Thursday Penguins (Read 9 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

    Penguin Power!

      Still pregnant :-P

Anyway, I'm taking my dog to the park for a walk soon before it heats up. Then I need to get my car inspected for insurance purposes - there's some law in NJ that cars under 7 years old need to get inspected for collision/comprehensive insurance. Not a huge deal, there's no damage to my car or anything it is just more of an inconvenience. We switched car insurance because our initial company raised our 6 month premium from 763 dollars to 839 dollars even though we made no claims (weird). So we shopped around and got the same coverage for 561 dollars for 6 months. Totally worth it get a 10 minute inspection to save 278 bucks. :-) So reminder: shop around for your car insurance every 6 months and save some money for race entrance fees or shoes ;-)

      Singer who runs a smidge

Still sick.    I'll be bailing on chorus tonight, and likely on quartet tomorrow night ... I just sound too much like a frog to try to sing!  Thankfully I asked off work for Monday (assuming my service engineer is finished here) so if all goes well, I have a four-day weekend upcoming to recover.  Woo-hoo!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

        Jill.

Hope you feel better so that you can enjoy your holiday, HsM!

We had been intending to shop around for insurance coverage, but we just had to file a claim when my husband drove off a curb and put a tiny crack in a rental car bumper, and our current company was great about handling the claim.  So there's that.  They were also pretty good when we did like $18,000 of water damage to our house a year after moving in.  So maybe we'll stick with our current company.  I'm not a huge fan of our actual agent, but I try to never talk to him.

Afternoon!  OTF done this morning with 2.85 ran while there. Pilates and 5 tonight. My back hurts from the rowing at OTF. Boo.

Jill, I check rates every so often but no one gives me what Geico does so I stay. I like them as well.

              Hope, feel better!

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.
