          1. Enjoy the time with loved ones and not stress so much about running (good time to rest a bit).

          2. Finish my 5th half marathon strong and end a successful first year of racing.

          3. See how close to 1,000 miles I can get. I surpassed my 2012 goal of 800.

          4. Continue my peaceful existence.

Let's see...I set a mileage goal of 1750 for the year, and I'm only at 1502 so far...so I guess run another 248 miles.....and try not to get injured in the process.

                          Wickedly Average

                            December goals...

                            1. stay healthy, as always

                            I did stay healthy

                            2. keep mileage between 25 and 30 mpw

Didn't quite make that one. I took one easy week, and fell short on 2 others.

                            3. hill work once a week, expand on it.

Except for the easy week, I did do hill work every week. Helped in yesterday's race.

                            4. fast finish to all easy runs.

I've been doing a sprint finish on many of my runs, but I'm not sure if it's helped me or not.

                            5. longer (1200 and 1600 m) intervals when I do speed work

                            Check

                            6. 3 long runs (10+ miles)

Nope - only 1 10-mile run this month.

That's enough to keep me busy for, say, 120 miles. Might throw a 5K in somewhere to see where my VDOT lies.

Well, my next 5K is likely to be in February. I fell just a bit short of my VDOT prediction in yesterday's race, but it was a little hilly and that does slow me down a bit. My December mileage fell short as well - 91 total miles. Just too many things to do, plus I think I messed up by trying to streak for several days. All that did was prevent my body from getting the rest that it needed. My easy week is a direct result of the streak, I think.

                              1.  150+ miles

                              2.   Festivus 5K (12/9) - with cousin, have a good time, not aiming for a PR but don't hold back anyway!

                              3.   Bring my diet back under control.  Am currently on day 3 of tracking calories again.

                              4.   Build back up to 40+ mile weeks so I can be ready for a super awesome HM training cycle in 2013!
