Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Barking Mad To Run

Today is also inauguration day for our newly elected Texas Governor, Gregg Abbott.  Of course, there will be a big inauguration party, Texas style, with barbecue, brisket, etc.

Very nice 3 day weekend, weather was perfect down here for us, in the 60s and 70s all weekend and lots of sunshine. I ran all 3 days of the holiday weekend, finishing up Monday with a pleasant 3-mile run/walk in the Zoo Park.  Our temp on Martin Luther King Day got all the way up to 74 degrees!   Today it will be near 78 degrees....too good to pass up, I may go after work for a run/walk on the San Antonio Riverwalk.   Gotta enjoy this nice weather, we have a 'cold' front moving in on Wednesday night...and there will be a cold rain from Wednesday night through Friday, temps in the 30s and 40s...but then our weekend weather will be back in the 60s, go figure.  Crazy darn Texas weather!

        Morning!

OMFG. I STARTED WRITING MY THESIS YESTERDAY. Cue panic mode D: Glad I'm starting early so I won't have to be up all night when I'm supposed to be putting in peak miles before my half, but it's making this whole graduation process seem all too real! I've been in school continuously since I was 5 years old, it feels very weird for it to be coming to an end.

Will get in 6+ miles at some point this morning with some sort of quality component. I'm leaning toward 4x5 minutes at GHMP.

Lauren, you'll do great. Smile  Good work in getting an early start on it.

          Morning Scotty!

I have 8 planned for after work.

            Hi Pens.

8 miles with 10x100 strides are on tap for later.

            Bye.

            Singer who runs a smidge

Hiya, Penguins!!  I had a lovely long weekend -- DH took my car in to get my tires rotated on Monday, and he was gone and back home again before I dragged my sorry butt out of bed, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  Today I have Facilities Management folks poking around my lab ceiling -- they're trying to replace a motor control room (??) so they're trying to track down all the wiring, where it goes and what it does.  I do not envy them.

scotty -- I'm laughing a little at how your doc wanted you to take it easy, so you ran all 3 days instead of racing all 3 days!!

Lauren -- Yes, the process of dissertation writing is daunting and thoroughly annoying.  Take breaks often.  I played a lot of ping-pong as I was writing mine.  Also hit save often, and save it in more than one place.

              Zel -- have a good 8!!

Jack -- have a good 8 and strides!!

Docket -- thinking of you and DH!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Morning. I have 4 with hubby and heavy weights tonight.

Thanks for the good luck wishes. PSA was normal so no evidence of cancer. Woot!

HsM - I have zero problem taking breaks often, haha Smile

Got my 6 with 4x5 min in - I actually hit pace on the last one, which was slightly uphill. Shocking. Probably going to hit the gym to lift in a few so I can take a serious recovery day tomorrow. My work today is mostly hands-off waiting type stuff and the boss is away so no meetings - all the time in the world for running and gym-going Big grin

                          Good morning Penguins!

Damaris - hurray for hubby!  You both must be so relieved today.

Lauren, good job on starting early on the thesis.

Scotty, I hope you get a nice run/walk in tonight.

Zel and Jack - I hope you both enjoy your 8 miles later!

HopesMom, glad you enjoyed the long lazy weekend, sorry it's back to the grindstone today. :P
