Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life.  (I started running at age 45).

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

It doesn't help his credibility that his marathon facts are wrong. The name of the messenger from Marathon to Athens is unknown. Phidippides didn't become associated with that event until a couple hundred years later. It's also doubtful that the messenger died since these were trained runners. Phidippides did run from Athens to Sparta and back, a far greater distance, and survived. Also the distance from Marathon to Sparta is about 40 kilometers, not 26.2 miles. Our current marathon distance (it was variable in the early years) originates with the 1908 London Olympics and wasn't adopted as the official distance until the 1920s.

Just think, if it had been my turn to carry a message, I could be famous now.
