Whatta ya got weekend penguins? (Read 22 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Whatever it is, stay cool peeps.

        It's hot!

        From the Internet.

2.5 hours in the pool this morning followed by still-warm raspberry corn muffins from the farm down the road for breakfast. I got one for me and one for the kid but I could eat like 6 more of these bad boys right now given the opportunity!

Morning. Ran 6.08 early this morning (humid as fuck) and now at the airport heading to SF.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

8 trail miles with a very rocky climb to start the first two miles.  Need to get better at rocks, but a gorgeous morning, came home, made a green smoothie, and the kiddo drank about half of it.  "Try Mommy's smoothie?"

Six done, now a shower and brunch at a local casino to celebrate Dad's birthday

                    I can. I will. I am.

                      Pad - nice early six.

                      Hi LRB!

Lauren - those muffins sound interesting.  I like corn muffins and I like fruit muffins, but I'm not sure about the combination.  Worth a try anyway. Good job on another long pool run.

D - Good work, getting the run in before your flight.  Have fun tomorrow.

Jill - How are you recovering from your travels?  Good work finishing week four so well.

Jerry - good day for a short run.

Emmbee - and did your little one like the smoothie?  Good job on the trail run.  Rocks are hard, whether uphill or down.  A lot of trail runners count on walking them, for safety sake.

Bacon - good job on the six.  I hope you don't lose too much at the casino.

Rest day for me.  I've run six days in a row, to make up for missing several days last week, and today I had absolutely no desire to do any miles at all.  Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

                      Jill.

                      Penguin Power!

I think that I am recovering pretty well - flying is a bit dehydrating but I've been drinking a bunch of water. I tried to fix my time zone issues quickly by going out with friends until 11pm last night. I'll post some pictures of Bastille day fireworks once dh uploads them Smile I had a nice dinner with my mom just now because she dropped off my dog after taking care of her for the last couple of weeks.

Ginny - 6 days in a row of running is tough- you deserve the rest

Went to help with the timing. My partner got there early and had everything all set up, so I was able to run the cross country 5k course at 7:00AM, hotter than you know what! My easy pace got me a 28:19 which would have been 3rd in my AG, HAHA! The shoe chips didn't read when the runners were coming across the mats, so we had a big cluster to sort it all out at the end.

Got 7 done this AM. Mitch, at thus elevation (around 5000 ft IIRC) I don't notice anything at all except that I'm more thirsty. Up in the Rockies yesterday,  even sitting there at the top I felt lightheaded.  Glad I didn't try to run up there! We were wiped just driving around with a little but of walking, but that was over 11000 feet.

Ginny, he loved the smoothie!  There were a lot of berries and half a banana in there, so the kale was camouflaged.

DW said she read that kale was making a lot of people sick, from too many minerals. Have you heard that in your area? We are in north Alabama.
