LRB- I’m not quite that old but I’d totally take one of those senior cell phones. Good job on the 6 mindless hamster wheel miles.

BasyaSpiliakos- Sounds like you had a productive time at the gym today.

Gustav1- Running in new shoes is the best! Hope you have a great 2.5-3 later on.

Flarunner- Great job on the rainy tempo 5 this morning. Hope the rest of your day was bright & dry.

Luke79- Enjoy your 2 tonight & good luck on your race this weekend!

DaveP MI- Glad you had time for the lunch run today.

SUSchnauzer- So sorry to hear of your loss. We lost my DW’s mom last June and it’s so strange at how a seemingly unrelated event can trigger the grief all over again.

Shirfan- Enjoy your “yet to be decided” recovery miles later tonight.

Just B.S.- Beautiful roses from your husband … he is a stealth romantic! Enjoy your 8 running and swimming later on this evening. Congrats too on the 28+ years of marriage (DW & I celebrate 23 this June) It sounds like you guys have a healthy & caring marriage … with chocolate cake to boot!

lilac_jive – Looks like you had an awesome time last night on the LRS Valentine’s run. You look so spunky in that running wall photo!

runmomto3boys- Enjoy those 8 recovery tonight. BTW, I log stalked you and it looks like you HATE your last mile on longer runs … you totally kick it into overdrive and pound it into the ground.

RunTomRun-  Sounds like you got an “almost long enough” break in the weather and got a good run today. (Nice job on taking care of Kay too Wink

kristin10185- Nice job in getting the miles done on the TM.

jedigunnie26.2- Good job on the 10+ on the TM and awesome pace!

Robert31320 – Great job on getting in the early 5 today … makes things just seem to go so much better once the run is in.

AprilRunner- Enjoy your SRD and good news that you might have found the source of your hip crankiness. Nice photo with lilac too!

KayPS- Twelve years! That’s just wrong. Looks like Tom has you covered this time.

FreeSoul87- Good job on the 7 miles last night. Have a good walk later on today!

Docket_Rocket- Hope you can get in your 8 miles later on between the storms rolling through.  Sorry you’re having kitty problems and the cone of shame didn’t stand up to Sammy’s scrutiny. (Sad news about the dog as well) BTW, you’re hilarious on the 5k’s statement.

Zelanie- Sounds like you had an awesome 9 lst night at the track. Enjoy your easy 5 tonight and chocolate time with your DH.

scrape.- Nice pace on the 9 miles out there on icy roads.

Pinktastic- Nice! You were able to get in the miles AND get to work from home. Sorry you forgot your gloves, but I’m not even going to ask what’s too cold in North TX Wink Nice placement by your DH … coffee AND Valentine’s cards!

Outoftheblue – Enjoy your SRD and stay sane for your upcoming race this weekend.

Scottydawg – Man, for saying you’re a slow guy it sounds like you moved REAL fast in your younger days. Nice story of how you & Gail met and happy anniversary!!

So_Im_a_Runner- Nice job on the 10 uneventful miles this morning.

      Ric-G – Speedy 10 this morning!

AmiK- Sorry to hear your run was more labored that you expected. Hope your trip to the chiro helps you out later on today.

Dtothe2nd – AWESOME news about the leg! What a relief that must be right now for you.

Dan_The_CPA- Good job on taking the rest days after the race. Smart man to listen to the body and not rush back in too quickly.

Sparker1606- Nice job on the workout today and enjoy your TM 3 later on.

Well, I had misread my schedule and only had 5 miles recovery run today. Got ‘em done on the TM @ the office and I must admit I used Heidi’s “HATE the last mile” approach to wrap things up – that was fun! Thanks to all the good wishes for DS’ performance tonight.

      Train smart ... race smarter.

Bwahahahaha!  I am so BUSTED!!!!  Yes, I so do.  Lots of nights I give myself permission to just get the run done with and run the last mile or two or three a hair faster.  15 on a Weds. night is no joke.  I just wanted to go home!!!    You are a hoot.  I'm glad you had fun with your last mile too, Bruce!

        Strength work donezo.  Yoga donezo.

Dan glad you're resting easy and going to start running more soon.

          Darmaris hope Sammy is ok!!!

So I just realized that I am leaving to go to my boyfriend's for the weekend tomorrow right from work, so that obviously means I can't make my yoga class after work, or my "back up plan" yoga class at 1:30 on Saturday, soooo that means 8:30pm yoga tonight. I really try if at all possible to get a class in every week. So that means double workout today (gym this AM and yoga tonight) and a rest day tomorrow (though will likely do ITB rehab stuff in the AM before work). And it also means I have a hot Valentine's Day date tonight.....with my yoga mat Smile

Hmmm, do you have to run for hours at these 5Ks?  Because otherwise, what would their fun be? Joking

'Morning!  Checking in for the first time today.  HA...79 replies...I have not read all of the dailies yet.

I had a follow up appointment with the knee doc this morning.  I'm progressing well but he told me there is no reason to push hard with the rehab.  I've got a good bend going but I need to let that meniscus heal.  The leg brace stays locked for another week or two.  He says the hard part of my rehab is going to be holding me back.  He's right!  Big grin    But I've got to take it easy.  Given where my pain and discomfort are right now, I was prescribed a third week off from work instead of the original two weeks.  So, looks like a lot more movie watching for me.

Hope you all have a nice Valentine's Day!  I gave my wife a mother's day card.  It's all I had in the house.  Clown

Phil - just remember, Adrian Peterson came out stronger than ever after knee surgery, so you can too.

I had three miles of "speed" work today.  Brief warm up, then 4 x .5 miles with .15 miles between each one.  I was originally aiming for around 8:30 or 9 min pacing, but I was outside instead of being on the TM and my ability to self pace is awful.  So my .5 mile splits were 3:53, 4:01, 3:45 and 3:59.  Fine for today, but I don't know how I'll feel about that when the plan says to do 8 x .5 miles.

Hope everyone has an enjoyable evening.

Schnauzer - I'm sorry for your loss.

Scotty - Happy anniversary! And I will second your endorsement for YMCA's. Ours also has free drop-in child care while you work out with family memberships, which has been very important to me over the last 6 years. And my DS loves the "Childwatch;" some of his best friends are those he met there, and he still asks to go every weekend.
                      Dtothe2nd - Great news!

6 miles for me in 55:25, steadily increasing the TM from 5.8 to 7.2 (roughly 8:20 - just faster than goal marathon pace). I thought about adding a couple more cooldown miles after I finished my strength class, but my ankle squawked a couple of times during the run, so I decided to let that be enough.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

                        What's up Dailies.  I did what I'll call a micro-brick.  3 mile bike + 2.5 mile run @ 9:48.  I was supposed to do a 2 mile easy run, but I just wanted more.

I guess I am lucky, I never get that way.  I just really enjoy everything about race day, including actually racing.  Unless it's million degrees out, those runs suck.

I really do too.  I just anticipate some nervousness at the finality of it all when I'm actually at the race location and getting ready to do my thing.
