Super B****

I'm going to have to go with zero, too... since I'm the freak who only got faster after gaining 25 pounds.

Which is not to say I want to gain another 25.  Joking

Since I started running 2 years ago, I lost about 15 lbs as of a month and a half ago. Now I'm down an additional 10 after beginning a pretty decent HM training plan. In all honesty I wouldn't mind keeping this up until I hit 150 (that'd be another 20 lbs), but I'd have to stop right there. I'd be encroaching in on my wife's weight and I think she wouldn't be able to get over weighing more than me. As of this morning I'm 1 lb heavier than the normal BMI range.

So far this morning: oatmeal with brown sugar, one yogurt, 2 molasses cookies, chicken with potatoes and half of a baguette covered with butter. This trying to maintain weight thing is harder than running itself... Now, what to have for lunch? Big grin

MJ5, I also gain the more miles I do.  I don't eat extra and I think I gain because I don't eat enough (I usually gain if I eat less han 1700 net calories.

i am in a totally different boat than most of you. If I was down to 200, I think that would be awesome. I am 6'. The smallest I recall ever being is a 36 waist, and If get there again I will consider myself studly. I dont have any idea how muchaster dropping 60lbs will be, but it has to help some.

I would think that for some ladies getting too small might not look good as some curves and some junk in the trunk is a good thing. But if you are a runner and worry about times, I would think that loosing a little off the top and off the back end would help those times some.

At the end of the day, you we have to do what makes us happy. If its having a few too many beers or glasses of wine and not being as fast as possible, than thats fine. If its getting rail thin and gaining some speed than thats cool too. Either way, it isnt worth being misserable.

Given that I'm on the upper end of normal I would certainly accept a decent amount to get faster. I can't imagine being light enough to be "underweight"... it's a long way off from where I am now.

I'm 5'10" and in between 150-154 lbs (currently 152) but I would seriously try my best to drop 5 lbs if it meant I could seriously race my best race. With my frame, I don't know if I could get much below 145, I think I weighed that in grade 7?

                2015 Goals and PRs:

I am 5'11.5". Before I started running I weighed 223. Now, I let my weight fluctuate between 150-155. I try to get closer to 150 on race day.  I am small boned and could probably get down to my high school weight of 140-145, but I don't want to lose any more weight. I like the way my body looks now. I don't want to look like skin and bones. I really don't care if it makes me a little slower.

I was obsessed with breaking 21:45 last year. I have done it. I am making running is an activity to stay in shape now. I don't want to make it an obsession to beat a goal time.

                  Personal Bests:

Yeah, another Hobbit! A double serving of oatmeal for me, tall glass of orange juice, a bagel with peanut butter, 2 cups of coffee, a big handful of whole wheat pretzels, a hunk of sharp cheddar cheese, a pear and lunch is still 2 hours away. Today I'll be taking an interviewee out for lunch to a nearby restaurant and already know I'm having the big portion of Southwestern tortellini (with chicken, black beans, etc) with garlic bread.

                    Train smart ... race smarter.

At 6'2" and 180, my BMI is 23.  With my frame and upper body mass, I look skinny (to non-runners), but not "runner-skinny."  There's still some surplus flesh, so I'd like to get to 165#, which is probably the lightest I could reasonably be.  BMI would still be 21, well in the normal range.  Underweight, <145, not gonna happen

I'd happily lose 5lbs if I thought it'd make me a lot faster and better.  Unfortunately, I think I'd need a whole lot more then weight loss to achieve the times you get.  I have found though that I have an extremely hard time controlling my weight when I'm training fairly hard.  I get so hungry and will even wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I'm starving if I try to keep it down too much.  Sometimes it looks like I've lost a bunch of weight overnight only to jump up to my norm + some the next day.  I'm assuming it's all part of the training/healing cycle.  If my body is hungry, I try to feed it;  if it's not, I try to not eat to just be eating.  If you're feeling fine Lily, I think you should just let it be.  You're beautiful regardless of what you weigh.  I'd have a hard time imagining you much thinner, but your body knows more then any of us.  Listen to it, and if you're not feeling weak or hungry all the time, then you're probably fine.  BUT, if you're eating all that, and still hungry, you probably need to eat even more!

                              Go figure

I'd be good with another 10-15 lbs of loss. I'm 6'1, 163lbs, and down to a size 30 pant. Still, my BMI is 21.5, which seems nuts to think that I'm only in the middle of normal and not low-normal. As my mileage has gone up, I've been eating a ton (like two lunches and two dinners). I'm not gaining, but not losing either. With my marathon coming up I'll start cutting back to get to the 155-158 range. If I weighed less I'd look scrawny, not that I'm massive now, but I do think more loss would continue to help my speed. If I ever decide to make a push at 2:45 to qualify for NY, I'd probably have to get to the high 140s.
