I'm not sure what a "walking" pace would be.

I did a one mile warm-up tonight followed 4X(1/2 mile T + 1/2 mile E).  I was probably a little faster than needed, hitting the 1/2 mile distance in about 4:05.  It felt good though, and it certainly didn't feel like 5 miles.

Kristin, I would say around 14:00-17:00 minute walking. Maybe you get do a test over the next day or two. 90 minutes for 10k comes to 14:31 pace.

9.5 total miles for me on the TM. 2 miles @ 8:00, 2 x 1 mile @ 7:41, 2 x 800's @ 7:18, 1 x 400 @ 6:58, 1 x 400 @ 6:38, 1 x 400 @ 6:18, with 400 recoveries @ 10:00 between each interval. I might try to do a few easy miles in the morning before my procedure. DW did not have the flu, *knocks on wood*. I may not be able to check in tomorrow until late if at all, if not, see you Pengs  on Thursday.

Stopping by, will read back in the next few. SRD for me.Had a pretty depressing day. Idiot me forgot to shut the chickens in last night, raccoon stopped by the coop. I'm feeling horribly guilty and very sad. Also had my hospital appointment today, surgery is scheduled for February 22nd. Here's to a better tomorrow.

Coralie, keep your chin up. Being active and running will help you get through the recovery  much quicker. I had colon cancer surgery back in August and was back running in 3 weeks.

                Thank you Smile

I'm hoping I will only be down for a week, I'll be having a tympanomastoidectomy (again, my hair hasn't even grown back yet) with possible ossicular chain reconstruction if they get all the tumour out. I've already paid for a 5K race on March 16th so I hope I can get going again soon after.

Kristin - sorry about the problems you're having finding a decent doctor.  It can be hard.  I still don't know if mine is any good.  I saw him for my sfx and he said "Rest."  I went back two months later and he said, "Rest more."  My husband saw him for his own problems, and was told, "Rest."  Probably good advice, but it's hard to tell whether there should have been more.

Walking pace can be anything from 3-5 mph - how brisk are you?  If you're breathing a bit hard, probably over 4.  Not breathing hard - probably less than 4.

Today wasn't supposed to be a run day for me, but I was feeling really depressed and the only thing I could thing of that would help was to run, so I went downstairs and got on the TM.  Didn't want to go far, since I'm trying not to increase my mileage too quickly, so I did hill repeats for two miles.  At the end, I felt much better - and besides, it was time for dinner, which also helped.

If we're going by mph my "easy" running pace is only 5mph (around 12mm) so My walking pace must be quite a bit slower. Just wondering if there is an average walking pace anyone knows of. I'm sure I'm at the slow end of average. I always get made fun of for walking slow (blame it on short legs) because many people who are taller than me I have to jog to keep up with them walking lol

                        Miles to go

Well I suck at walking.  If I pay attention I walk about an 18 minute mile, but if I'm not careful it can be closer to 20:00, hehe.  I maybe could walk a 10K in 90 minutes but it would be HARD.

Coralie- Hope your surgery is uneventful and that you're healing up soon!
