Do you untie your running shoes before you take them off? (Read 345 times)

I get north of 600 miles out of a pair of shoes.  Failing to untie them isn't going to damage them unless you are buying really, really cheap shoes.

Tis true. Failing to untie your shoes before taking them off does not damage them in any way. When shoes and laces were mostly leather or canvas, the act of leaving them tied while slipping them on & off would cause premature stretching of the materials(as your mom said, wearing your shoes out!) but since most modern day shoes, especially athletic ones, are mainly plastics and composites they are not prone to this stretching as much.

Now if I could just convince myself the same thing about wearing shoes without socks wouldn't harm them, I could! But my mom's voice sometimes overcomes reason!

Wow!  You put them back in their box?  Not me, in fact, I have several pairs kicked lackadaisically throughout the house, all of them with their bows still intact.

I like them on tight so it is usually easier to untie then kick them off

Untie, always.  That way they are ready for use immediately the next time, usually early in the morning when it is dark.

Funny but a very similar topic was on the radio yesterday.  Hosts were asking if you put you shoes on in which order:

Slip on; Slip on; Tie; Tie      -- or

Slip on; Tie; Slip on; Tie.

Just a fun way to poll the audience.

          Not quite right

50/50 sometimes I do sometimes I don't . Probably based on how tight I had them . Sometimes I run with shoes pretty tight sometimes on the lose side

              Usually, no.

I do untie them before putting them back on.

              +1

But I am trying out these for the first time and liking them.

Always. It irks me to see my sons not untie their shoes when taking them off, or when putting them back on.

                Go figure

APRIL...I am right handed...and a touch OCD. LOCOMOTE...I use those for tri's to speed up transition. They're a little looser than I'd like for just running though.

I used lock laces, so they aren't tied, technically.  Loosen the lock...and kick them off.  Done

                          Rungry!

Hell no. I'm the slip on/slip off lazy sort.

Kick them off after end of a run.  However, untie before placing them on. Then tie them when placing them on.

I don't untie...I kick 'em off as I walk in the door. Pure laziness. I do untie before putting them back on though.
