Thriller Thursday Penguins!! (Read 9 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Not that I actually have anything thrilling going on, just the usual.  Work today, chorus tonight, work and a gig tomorrow, coaching on Saturday ....

I did do a load of laundry this morning.  Thrilling, huh?

Knee is much better, although since I have a 2 hour rehearsal tonight, I'm probably not going to push it by doing much else.  Don't know if the yoga helped yesterday, but clearly it didn't hurt.  I expect the arnica and ginger helped more than the yoga.

      Ginny, glad you're feeling better!!

Morning! (barely).  I ran 15 on the TM earlier this morning, Pilates after work.

Hope, glad the knee is doing better.

        Barking Mad To Run

Crazy Texas weather!   Went to Fort Sam Houston this morning. Started my run/walk at 6:10 a.m.   Temp was 51 degrees and the wind was blowing at 25 mph, it was crazy.   By the time I finished, the temp had dropped to 46 degrees - and I don't even know what the 'wind chill' temp was - and the wind had picked up to 33 mph, good lord.  The open areas were wind crazy.  I did part of my route through the family housing area, just so I'd have some wind-block from the houses for a while; it was actually pretty nice in that area.   I ended up with 3.2 miles done, with a brief stop to give a treat to one of my doggie pals in the housing area.   As we were both standing there and he was munching his treat I told him, "I dunno, Angus, we stand here too long, we might end up with a free trip to Oz."

I'm at work now..and the temp is continuing to drop.  By tomorrow morning, the temp in the early a.m. is supposed to be around 31 degrees.  Glad Friday is a non-running day for me!

I am thrilled to have the day off today!  We have freezing rain, so I'm glad they cancelled school.  I should be using the day to do thrilling laundry, like HsM, but I haven't managed that yet.

Hi, HsM!  Glad the knee is better!

            Nice run, D!

Scotty, in that wind, I'm glad something didn't run into you!  Turnabout would have been fair play.

Z - I saw on the news that Oregon was having some horrible weather today. I'm glad you got to stay home.

HopesMom - nice way to end the week, with lots of music. I hope the rehearsal didn't hurt your knee.  My dad used to sing a lot, including a stint with an a capella group, but had to quit because his injured back couldn't handle the long periods of standing any longer.

D - you had a good start to your day. Is the mediation in Palm Beach finished?

Scotty - we had the temperature drop and winds here too.  Brrr. Dress warmly this weekend.

AFM: Cold wind for my run this afternoon meant I was comfortable when it was to my back, but freezing when it was in my face. I did 6.7 easy miles around the neighborhoods.

It wasn't all that bad, maybe because I didn't leave the house until like half an hour ago. DH made it to work fine, but I think the freezing rain started right after that. I'm glad that with schools closed there weren't as many people on the roads. It means I will work Presidents' Day, but I can live with that.

Yes!  It was only Friday and, although they can't force us to mediate (we just listened and suggested things), it was a great experience for future endeavors.  Freezing face is not good.
