Return To Racing

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Morning! Ran 8 with 4 @ MP last night and had to use the inhaler as my allergy shot is not letting me breathe much.  Also got a stomach bug which still has me feeling blah today.  RD as I head to Disney for the Star Wars races.  Very much a cutback week.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Morning, Penguins!!  Well, I bailed on the bike ride last night in favor of baking a batch of cookies.  They're chocolate peanut butter, with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and mini Reese's.  Way yummy!!  Chorus rehearsal tonight, which should be all kinds of fun.  New music, plus we're going to watch our contest performance, woo-hoo!!

        Jerryb -- good morning!!

Docket -- hope your lungs cooperate!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

        Return To Racing

Short run/walk planned with DW.  She is making progress with the ITBS PT and is okay to do a 3 minute run and 2 minute walk.  Looks like my LR will be Sunday with my running group running twin.

Damaris - I hope you feel well enough to enjoy your races this weekend.

HopesMom - have fun at rehearsal tonight.  Are the cookies for your group?

Jerry - I'm glad your wife is doing better, even if she's not well enough yet to race with you.  I'm glad you have someone to run your long run with you this weekend though since you're used to having company on your runs.

AFM:  Another beautiful day (60s) and I plan on 6+ this afternoon.

              Barking Mad To Run

Managed to do the 2-Miles last night at the local Zoo Fun Run 2-Miler that is held each Wednesday evening at 6:30 pm. Stupid leg was still pulling a bit as I ran but not as bad as it was; and my bruise has just about disappeared from my  leg.  I managed to finish the 2 miles in 21:29.  Not speedy by any means, but I'll take it.  Adductor muscle healing slowly but surely.
