Why we keep racing
There is an entry in my race log written shortly after Detroit last year stating that I would not run a marathon this year....
race obsessed
Oh absolutely!
In a 5k usually around 1 Mile I think. WTF Here we go again I really dont like this. Around 2.5 I fucking HATE it! If I were able to be removed instantly from that event and asked to race *with the emotions I have at that very instant* I might just punch them right in the kisser.
At the finish line and a few minutes after, I can't even think. No anger, no frustration, just blind pain and desperately trying to breathe and recover!
10 minutes later, I want another one... sometime...
An hour later, I am looking at the calendar for the next one.
The longer distances are similar but longer time frames for each 'phase'.
When I finished my marathon, I knew immediately that I wanted to do another. Same with my first HM. As much as they hurt, the experience was a good one. More than that, I wanted to be able to do it better. In both cases I said, "I did pretty well, given my level of training, but I'm sure I could do better if I had more miles and better training."

Honest to God, I had this feeling in a group social run on Saturday. They were going way faster than my comfort zone currently and by mile 2.5, I was ready to never run again. Ever. lol
You are funny!
This happens all the time though because of the chatter. Then out of the blue your face is blue. lol
Are we there, yet?

This is why I've always compared running marathons to giving birth.
