Farseeing Friday Penguins (Read 18 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

    Penguin Power!

I'm seeing far into my future... I bit the bullet and signed up for the NYCM again.  Now I guess it is time to start running and stop being a bum =P  $227 is a bit steep, but at least I don't have to pay for travel or lodging.

Morning!  I ran 6 last night on the TM (it was Summer all of a sudden) and they went well, coughing but not badly if I kept it at a slow pace.  Waited for hubby to come home from work to run 4 with him but he took so long I decided to nap instead.  7-10 miles tonight.

Jill, have fun!  I love that race!

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

        Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  Well, I did a snow dance in my driveway last night, AND IT SNOWED!!  Ok, so there wasn't enough snow to keep me from getting to work today (just a dusting), so obviously my snow dance didn't last long enough.  But it did snow, so I am AMAZING!!  Chorus last night was good, but it took me forever to get warm enough to fall asleep last night (about 12:20 AM), so I'm way tired today.  It's all good, tomorrow is just sleeping in, the week's worth of laundry, making the rum cream pies, and hey, maybe a bike ride!!

Jill -- woo-hoo for NYCM!!  That's my deal with signing up for races way in advance too -- too many times I'm either injured or way undertrained.  Mostly because I'm a lazy wuss.

Docket -- enjoy your 7-10 tonight!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

No running today, and it's not been a good day so far.  Roto-rooter is here, there is no sewer cleanout outside, so he has to pull the downstairs toilet to clean the drain line.  At least I noticed the problem before we had any flooding in the house.

DH is not going to be happy about the bill, but we need indoor plumbing!

              Hi Pens.

Later today I've got some weird tempo run to do on the TM.  1 easy + 14 min @ 7:15 + 4 min job + 12 min @ 7:15 + whatever easy for a total of 7 miles. Dang. Pfitz has me running faster than goal pace in the first week!  Let's hope I can hold up for 12 weeks and it pays off with a PR.  Depending on how I feel, I might do some core stuff when I am done.

Oh, my poor dog has fleas for the first time ever in her 10 years. I think she picked them up at the vet during her two night stay. Does Frontline work?

              See ya.

              Barking Mad To Run

                Day off today - Yay!

Easy run/walk last night at Fort Sam Houston along my "Dog Alley" route in the family housing area.  The weather was so pleasant - 62 degrees and sunny - that lots of my 4-legged pals were out in their yards waiting for me to give treats too.  Kind of a sluggish 1st mile - my legs were feeling the 7 hills I did on Wednesday night - but after that felt okay.  Ended up with 3.2 miles done.

This weekend I have 2 5Ks, one on Saturday at Mission Park -  a very pleasant area, with trails along the San Antonio River - and then the Game Day 5K on Sunday morning  in New Braunfels near the Guadalupe River.  Or is it the Comal River?  I tend to forget which is which.

This will give me 9 races done for the year.

We had our sewer fixed just two days ago. Roots.  $1200. Enough said.

Frontline works well. It also protects against ticks. My parents live in the middle of nowhere so that is what we use on our dog before visiting.

                    Return To Racing

                      Good Morning !!!

                      Any races in Iceland, Jill?

Have a good 7-10 DR. Hope the cough is gone.

We need a picture HsM.  The dance, not the snow.

You need a run to forget about the plumbing bill Margo.

Hope the flea stuff works, Jack.

Good luck with the 5K, Scott.

3.8 cold weather pace for us.  No walking.  Warm up for the weekend so possible LR coming up.  Friday matinee to see Trumbo today.  Anyone else see it?

                      Have a great weekend Smile

                        Good morning Penguins!

5 easy done this morning.  (actually wasn't so easy, with some coughing and congestion). Soon I'm headed to the expo for Sunday's HM.  I plan to register for 3 races while I'm there - they always have a bunch of races represented, with discounts!

We use K9 Avantix because without it our dogs get fleas AND ticks.

Us too, though Dusty still gets the occasional tick.
