Tuesday Penguins Points To Ponder (Read 30 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.

Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."

It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Fear is a Liar

      Hello Penguins !

Just heard a radio commercial for a shoe store that says you walk 150,000 to 200,000 miles in a lifetime!

Hopesmom - glad to hear you are feeling better

krisin - sorry to hear about the shin splints

Mitch - I'm no marathon expert but I have read adding 20-30 seconds on to the McMillan time for a first marathon.

I will run some undetermined s distance.

I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!

              Barking Mad To Run

Will be 84 degrees and sunny today in San Antonio.  Sounds like a perfect day to do a run/walk along the San Antonio Riverwalk and then have a post-run beer.  Which is exactly what I am going to do.   Gonna enjoy this weather for the next couple of days.  By Friday our high for the day will be only 39 degrees!  It figures the flippin' weather would get cold again for the weekend  Angry when I have 3 races to do this weekend.

                    Hi Pens.

Scotty: does it ever get cold in SA?

I will run later, anything from 4-6 miles. My massage was great; he got all the knots and stuff worked out. Today my legs feel like rubber.

                      Hi everyone.

Just wanted to let you all know that I am (mostly) keeping up with reading the thread daily, even though I don't post every day.  Starting next week I will be unable to read / post during the day, because at our new location I have no privacy at work.  Anything on my computer screen will be visible to the 30+ people in my work area.  So no more visiting non work-related web sites.

I ran yesterday, will do a cycling class this afternoon.  My run mileage has been down since I added in the swimming and cycling, but I am exercising more times / more days per week.  I hope to start increasing my miles again as I adapt to the new workouts.

                        Morning!

Gustav- I wonder how many more miles runners will go? Smile

Margo- Boo to new work setup!

Hello to everyone else!  Cooooold here and supposed to get colder all week.

                          Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  I had planned to go for a walk with DH and Dusty yesterday evening, but I was completely wiped out when I got home, and I even left early.  I also had a rampaging headache, so I took a Tylenol (no NSAIDS, thank you!) and a bubble bath, and that helped.  Follow-up doc appointment today.  I still have a little bit of rash on my hands and arms, so I guess I'm still "recovering".  Life is never dull!!

Gustav -- have fun with your undetermined run!!

Docket -- have a good short run!  That's like 8 miles, right?

Jerryb -- Yeah, I am lucky that my work is fairly flexible.  Nobody cares if I take a 15 minute nap around 1:00 or so ...

Stone -- hope you get started and it goes well!!

                            PAD -- woo-hoo for your 3 done!!

Scotty -- have a good riverwalk run and beer!!

Dan -- have a good easy run!!

Jack -- drink lots of water post-massage!!  I love massages ...

Phillie -- non-work-related websites are what makes work fun!  Sorry about the lack of privacy ...

                            Zelanie -- stay warm!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

                            Skirt Runner

I have been absentee....sorry. After my race Saturday I drove down to my boyfriend's in Maryland. We went to the Giants vs Redskins game Sunday night (my team vs his team) and both took personal days Monday so we could sleep in and I could drive back to NY at my leisure (because obviously was not heading back after midnight when the game ended Sunday). Yesterday I attempted a long run with the doggie, but I had to cut it off a mile and a half in because my shin hurt too bad to run. Ended up limping back to his house, wishing I had brought my phone to call him and have him come find us in the car. Felt so pathetic Sad. Taking a rest day today....
