Peaceful Penguin Wednesdailies!! (Read 8 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

It's International Day of Peace today, so press pause and embrace peace, whenever you get the chance!

DH and Dusty and I ran this morning, and I did mailbox fartleks.  Too soon to tell whether my legs are going to rebel completely, or just complain a bit.

Yesterday just as I was leaving the lab for my quartet gig, we had a total loss of power (which turned out to cover several buildings, traffic lights, etc).  One of my instruments vented and brought itself back up with no issues.  Another didn't vent (better UPS).  The third is requiring that I baby it this morning.  Looks like it's going to be ok, though.  Just needs a little TLC.  Woo-hoo!!

Oh, and the gig was a blast!!  Given that we often sing for nursing homes, which don't have the most ... responsive ... audiences, this group of homeless women was so much fun!!  They were interactive and talkative, and basically just enjoyable to sing for.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

        Good Morning HsM

4.7 run/walk between storms this morning.  Keeps the cyclists off the bike path.

        Peace...

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

I did absolutely nothing yesterday, so today I'm making up with a 3 mile morning walk, an 8 mile afternoon run, and mowing the lawn before dinner. I think tonight is a beer night.

Got my 6x800 done last night.  Looking at my log, it was a tad faster than the 400s or 600s. Maybe that's the fall temps. Maybe it's just that I don't like cutting it close, so I checked our pace every 200m and adjusted if we weren't ahead of pace.

Today I just have a 1 mile streak run and maybe a walk with DH and theven dogs.

MTA: Lauren, glad you got home safely yesterday!  I have heard coyotes on the run, but never seen them.
