A Memorial Penguin Weekend (Read 26 times)

    The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      I've got a 1 mile race this morning, should be interesting. It's part of The Summit Games! 'The Summit' is a 50 and over gym I belong to. The games are 2 days and has events  from dominoes to swimming.

       

      With warmup and cool down may get 3 total today.

        Morning all!  Drinking coffee and then I'll head out for a run.  Ideally I'd like to do the one 7.5 mile route that I often do, but we'll see what my body says once I'm out there.  DH and I will be heading to a memorial day party this afternoon.

          Looking forward to a stress free weekend. Just a a grandkid birthday party and soccer game to go to and nothing else. Ahhh. Work is incredibly busy so I need some down time. Been wrestling all week with insurance and still no answered. Gave up on primary care doctor and have an appointment with an Ortho next week. Still gimping, no running.

                Hey guys!  I didn't run yesterday.  I'm "recovering"   Hope to get some miles in today.  This will also be my first day without caffeinated coffee in over 17 years.    I've been on half-caff for a few days, hope I'm ready!

                  Z - good luck with quitting coffee.  I've had to do without at times (fire ban when hiking) and I get grumpy. The headache is the worst part - maybe do some yoga to get more oxygen to help that.

                   

                  D - hope your six go well.

                   

                  AFM:  my leg doesn't hurt today, so I may do an easy 5 or 6.  I don't want to miss this last run of nice weather before summer heat takes over.

                        Have some Ibuprofen or Tylenol handy! I always get withdrawal headaches when I don't have my coffee.

                          You're not kidding! This is worse than I was expecting. But one day almost down.

                            We wanted to get outside to enjoy the beautiful weather - 72 and sunny - but didn't want to run into hordes of people out enjoying the long weekend.  That meant the AT and the State Parks were out. Fortunately, the ski trail is too short (only 3 miles) for a long hike or bike ride, so there was only one group out enjoying a walk.  I did two loops on the ski trail while Jim and Ben walked it once.  I am really slow on even very easy trail.  It was fun though.  Only one deer this time and no turkeys.

                                Finished but didn't get official results yet.  Probably no PR. Too many hills.  2:17:47 by my clock which would be a minute off last week's PR.  Rain held off until last mile and we still finished last 2 miles at 10:00 pace.  Nice, well organized race.
