Penguin's Equinox WednesDAILY (Read 11 times)

Return To Racing

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Return To Racing

      GOOD MORNING !!!!

Looks like we are dog sitting DD's pitbull today, so we will probably go for a dog run this afternoon.

      Enjoy your 12 hour day.

        Morning Jerry

Not sure if it will be a RD or not. I'll try to get a few after work.

        Penguin Power!

          Morning Jerry and PAD.

The science nerd in me is sad... I saw Equinox and thought of the ritzy gym chain in NYC instead of the change in seasons.

Today I have 10 miles easy planned, I'm thinking of doing them as a bridge run to get in a bit of hill work today.  I'll do them as soon as I get DH off to work and walk the dog.  Today is my first day of "work" for the school year.  There are so many holidays in the NYC school calendar this year that my students haven't gotten enough work until now to want to start.

          Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

            Morning. I have 10 with 5 x 1 mile at 10K tonight.

Jerry, awww, give that doggie some love.

            Barking Mad To Run

Lovely run yesterday after work in sweeet weather....92 degrees, sunshine-and-shade, 'feels like' 94, but dew point in the low 60s and humidity about 34%.  As I ran through one of my favorite, and very tree-shaded, local neighborhoods, I heard this 'yapping' behind me;  when I turned to look I saw a little dog trying to chase me, pulling on the leash its owner was holding.  It turned out it was doggie I met at my Saturday race, this doggie, that I had given treats to before the start:

The lil doggie remembered me, lol, and when I stopped to pet her, she went right for my pocket with the treats in it, lol.

Ended up with 3.4 miles and a very pleasant run/walk  on a circuit that took me through nice neighborhoods and shaded trails in a nearby park.   Today, either a run/walk at lunchtime around the campus or one after work at Fort Sam Houston.

                Good morning, Penguins!

Scotty, your story made me smile.

Jill, have a great day at work.

Jerry, Damaris, PAD, enjoy the running (if that's what you end up doing, PAD!)

I'm going to attempt some intervals.  Then come home and wait for the AC repairman.

                Zelanie

Hey guys.  Tempo tonight- might just do that at the track so that I'll have company.  But a 20 minute tempo interval is a lot of laps. Sad

Jerry- Have a good dog run!

PAD- Hope you get some miles in!

sapf- Enjoy your first day of work!

                  D- Rock it!

Scotty- You have a new fan!

Brilliant- Good luck with the intervals and AC.

                  From the Internet.

                    Hi pens!

Kid doesn't have school today so I opted to sleep in rather than run early. 10 hours of sleep complete, 3-4 miles on tap after dinner (well, after I feed everyone else dinner).

                    Return To Racing

DD did not need to come up our way, so no dog sitting.  3 slow walkrun miles for us.

                      Brilliant

                        Hi again,

Lauren, hope you and kidlet had a great day.

Zel - congrats on your new "job" as game administrator for next year!  Did Damaris actually tell you the truth about how hard it is? Wink

I had a good run this morning, 4x800s @5k pace.  Now if I can just do that for 26 miles I can BQ.

No AC yet and it's heating back up, argh.  They need a part.
