I linked to the fb thread. It's not actually on fb, it's just a picture thread here on ra

Unfortunately a lot of people who live in the 'burbs think that is all true!

I work downtown so I have a good idea of what the city is like.  Not a big fan of the streetcar idea.  I'm guessing you are.

I'm kind of grumpy right now as I need my Bearcats (Hench BCR for Bearcat Runner) to get into a new conference.  I hate being left out.

I feel I am posting too much but have few more things to say.

1.) Are you from Carmel Ind?  Fantastic running community I've run Indy 3 times.  Plus we have other connections with Mason and Carmel being the best HS running schools in their respective states

2.) So you got your BQ in your first attempt with like three kids strapped to your hip in only 6 months of training?  Wow that is pretty amazing.

You know as your swarm came here to RA it is amazing how much you guys have kind of taken over.  To think that spam kicked you guys out of your beehive is pretty amazing spam.  Someone did a great job.

Okay I have said enough.  Probablly best to sit and observe your way of life so that I can learn from it.

Awww, I don't mind!  Nope, I've never been to Carmel, actually.  I'm from Wisconsin.  I ran Des Moines as my first marathon and Carmel is apparently a pretty fast, pretty flat course and it takes place in early Spring (cooler temps - woot!), which is why I picked it. I'm signed up to run Green Bay a month later, but I might bail if I run Carmel well.  I wanted a back up in the pike, though, in case I suck it up in Carmel.

For the record, I was running for 7 months when I ran Des Moines. That extra month might have made all the difference. Wink   You are very sweet - thanks!

        It's nice to meet you!

Yes, I like the idea, though not as much as I would if the original idea of a complete line from UC (where I work) to downtown was going to be built.  But even this short stretch is going to be worth doing, I think. It will link the stadium area & the Banks, the new casino, the resurgent OTR area--all the areas of the city where the most development is occurring.  If you work downtown, being able to hop on a streetcar to grab lunch at a place like Senate in OTR, without having to hassle with parking, etc., will be really nice.  Give it a try.  Yes, it's expensive, but the medium- to long-term the economic impact and the enhancements to city residents, people who work downtown, and visitors will, I think, be worth it.  But I suppose we'll see.

And of course a more comprehensive light rail system that links to the outlying neighborhoods and suburbs and might actually move people and alleviate traffic would probably have a bigger impact, but I doubt that will ever happen here.  The streetcar costs chump change compared to that.

Don't fret about the Big East--Tulane is on board now!  (I went to Tulane, I'm allowed to mock their athletics.)

Big fan of light rail.  Not a fan of streetcar at all.

Excuse me but you forgot the powerhouse East Carolina football team is joining as well.  Do you run with any local running groups?

We actually spent the enitre spring and summer fighting spam, and we were as relentless as the spam was.

Then, they promised an upgrade which turned out to have less features than what we had.  Two weeks of dealing with that coindided with a spam attack last Wednesday night and we finally had enough and walked.

Yes, they are running hotties. You and I can both pretend that fact matters to us.

They're also friendly, smart, funny and irreverent. Pretty much to total package.

Why, thank you!  (I'm going to pretend that you were referring to me.)

"As stars in the sky"- what a poetic way to refer to our, um, abundance.  And, yeah, I don't really see the thread count lessening any time soon...

BCR, I hope you'll stick around and not just lurk.  We like you.
