Is it Monday Penguins? (Read 20 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Hey Penguins!  Coaching on Saturday was good, but EXHAUSTING!!  Standing and singing (and moving, a bit) for that long is just hard on the body, I don't care who you are.  DH and I ended up hitting the hay about 8:15 on Saturday night!  I did manage a quasi-bike ride on Sunday, meaning that I rode back and forth across the back yard for half an hour or so.  I now have enough confidence to get myself going without a pushoff from DH, or the mental boost of having him stand next to me as I'm staring down the grass.  Now if I could only figure out how to turn!

And Dusty has kennel cough, so we're giving him extra loving and keeping an eye on him.  He sounded better last night and this morning, thankfully.

      So what's up, all?

Morning!  I have Pilates and 7.

Hope, any form of coaching is exhausting!

          Geez, it clearly IS Monday!

One instrument was down, the service rep came in to fix it.  He had to leave hurriedly because his father was injured in a car crash.  I haven't heard an update, but since my service rep has been out for several days, I'm guessing it's not good.  However, I think he actually fixed the instrument right before he left, and I was able to run through some diagnostics, and even get a couple of samples run.

My other instrument is also down, and coincidentally the service rep for this one is the wife of the service rep for the other one.  She's been emailing me instructions, but I haven't got it fixed yet.

I have samples backed up to run, so I ran two of them on instrument #1, then took them over to the analysis computer.

The service rep upgraded the software on instrument #1, and now my analysis computer can't read the files.

In order to fix this, I have to get the software on the analysis computer upgraded from Windows XP to 7, get the new analysis software installed, get a 1TB operating drive, and get permission to run as full admin by swearing never to connect the computer to the outside world.  Mondo headache to work with our IT guys.

I happened to run one of the needed samples on instrument #2 before it went down, so I analyzed the data.  I found one peptide.  One.  Single.  Solitary.  Peptide.  Was hoping for 20 or 25 ...

Hey HopesMom and Damaris and other Penguins!

I'm looking for Mitch (hog4life). But since I'm here, I did a 15mile long run yesterday. I was going to do it with my Sunday morning long-run group. But it got rained out and I had to solo in the evening instead. It's a lot harder to run alone. So I just planned the 2nd part of the run far out from where I started so I couldn't cut it short even if I wanted in the last few miles. The strategy worked. And my legs were nearly destroyed near the end. It was painful. Thankfully, I woke up with fresh good legs again this morning.

And here's a little drama during the run. A girl in an SUV interrupted my run asking for direction to Decatur (Mitch's town). She looked like she's going to cry (in fear?) when she said her bf was waiting at the other end of a road in Decatur. I'm not sure if there's such a road in Decatur. I gave her the direction and made sure she remembered it. Then I guess I got a little too fast after the little break that in turn drained all the energy I had left for the last few miles.

Alright. Mitch, I signed up for this weekend's 10K+5K race (volunteer) yesterday. I saw your name there. So I just put down mine next to yours for the 2 same posts. So see you this Saturday!

            Jill.

            Penguin Power!

              Hi Pens!

I did 4 miles really easy on the treadmill today.  I'm trying to climb back on my marathon training plan.  I am mostly over my tummy issues and hope to be fully back to the training plan next week.  I'm still very tired because my body really isn't used to functioning without coffee.  I'm hoping this will only last another week or so because school starts next week.  I'll probably start meeting with my students again the week after that.

              Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

              Barking Mad To Run

Rest day for me after a nice weekend of running.  5K on Saturday morning and then on Sunday a social run with lots of good friends and for a good cause.  For every mile run, Fleet Feet donated $1 to Team RWB, a veteran's organization I belong to.   Really good turnout for the run - over 100 people, followed by breakfast tacos, fruit, drinks, etc.    My reports and photos of the 5K and of the social run are on the front page somewhere.

Getting cooler in Texas now...our highs all this week will only be up to 93 degrees.   So I can go run after work this week instead of having to get up at Oh-Dark-Thirty in the morning.

                    From the Internet.

Hi pens! Run/walk this morning, after 3 straight miles yesterday I didn't want to go too crazy. 4x5 min run/1 min walk, more walking to warm up/cool down. 63 minutes in the pool a few hours later.

I kinda maybe accidentally signed up for a local 6 hour race in November. I don't know what's wrong with me.

HsM- At least you had a reason to upgrade from XP, right?  Hope your Monday improved.

I ran 9 easy after work.  Now it's time for ZZZ.
