It's Finally Fall Friday Penguins - (Read 13 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

A cold front is going to drop temps 20 degrees this weekend. Tomorrow's high is supposed to be 55, feels like 48.  Chilly, but nice for running.  Today is warmer, but gray and rainy, so it still feels autumnal, especially with leaves blowing all around.  I'll do 5 or 6 this afternoon, if it isn't pouring.

Morning!  Ran 6 this morning outside and now stuck at a deposition for most of the day.  I will run more later after weights.

Ginny, I would love for us to have a cold front, but don't feel jealous for your 20s.

Morning, Penguins all!!  The rain hasn't gotten here yet, but the low tonight is supposed to be in the 40's ... come to think of it, I probably should've closed the windows before I left home.  Oh well.  Should be brisk for tomorrow's run, and then I have chorus stuff all day.  But hey, this is my last day of work for a week and a half!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

It cooled off more here and it was 55 for this mornings 4.

            Return To Racing

We ran 5.0 at 50 sunny, windy degrees.  Last run before Grand Rapids HM on Sunday.

Looks like we will be watching the Cubbies from a brewery, hopefully only on Saturday night.

              Barking Mad To Run

Cooled off around here nicely.   Down to the 50s last night.  After work, around 6:30 pm, went for a run around my neighborhood and through the adjacent park behind my neighborhood, where i did some trails.  it started getting a bit dark after 7 pm so the trails were a bit hard to see since I had neglected to bring a headlamp with me, duhhh.  A very nice lady came along on her bike and asked me where the playground was - same place i was heading to get back into my neighborhood - so after I told her, she led the way for me with her bright bike light and I followed, running behind the bike, so it all worked out for both of us.  I had planned on an easy 3 but with my 'exploring' on this trail in the park I had not been on yet, I ended up with 4.2 miles.   Felt strong the whole way too, very nice.

Scotty - sounds like a great run, even though you did get caught in the dark.

Jerry - It's bad to watch the cubs from a brewery?  Sounds okay to me. Have fun at your race on Sunday.

D - Morning runs are unusual for you, but I'm glad you were able to get outside in the relative coolness.  How were the lungs?

HM - A full day of chorus?  Have fun on your trip to Washington.

PAD - nice cool run for you.

I got caught by the rain on my run, but it was a good one anyway.  (Accuweather's Minutecast was off by about 20 minutes.)  I cut it short, but managed 5.5 hilly miles.

They were OK but 70 dewpoint is my limit before I start coughing too much.  And it was nice going outside, indeed!  Nice run in the rain!

I ran 11 with 9 at MP. Felt completely unprepared, but it went well. It was nice all day but started raining 2 miles in and pouring 5 miles in. Still not as rainy as last weekend.

Guess I should have checked AccuWeather instead of looking at the sky.  Wink

                      Good to see you, Scotty!
