I'd definitely rather underpay them than overpay them!  It is always tougher to get that money back.  An underpayment is an easy fix.

Definitely!  Plus, people aren't always honest, either, and you have to break the news to them that they were overpaid.

There are a lot of lawyers here.  Interesting.

Also, given the people who have posted in this thread (which I realize is not the population of the BooF), I'm surprised at the during-the-day traffic in these parts.

If it helps, I work with a computer attached to my hip and might spend hours in court waiting for hearings. I am sure most lawyers are like that.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

You'd think with the amount of posting that goes on on here during the day, more people would be in IT.

I am a Unix/Linux Systems administrator for a place that maintains bibliographic data for libraries.

As of Monday I'm the proposal manager for a small defense contractor.  Before that i was a program manager in the same company.  We upgrade and modify military aircraft.

I work in civil rights legislation.

I work for a group of insurance agencies as a computer geek (software not hardware).  I mostly gather data from existing systems and provide reports or write applications that allow the users to see or report data in a more usable manner.

Nice! Do you get free beer??

Well yes, kind of. I do partially pay for the beer to be brewed and there are others involved so I can't take a disproportionate amount. I am able to grab kegs if I want to though. I'm considering installing a tap line into my kitchen counter at home.

I have court almost every day of the week, so I spend lots of time sitting in my ass waiting for judges and defense attorneys to come to court...we routinely have to wait over half an hour. But in my county, if the prosecutor is even a minute late, off with her head!!! So I post from my phone a lot.

I am an Oncology Pharmacy Technician. I work per diem at a major Cancer Center mixing the magic stuff that will hopefully save lives. Full time, I work at the same Cancer Center arguing with insurance companies to make sure my patients don't go broke trying to pay for meds. If that doesn't work, I scour the globe looking for patient assistance. I cry on a routine basis when I get to tell my patients that they don't have to pay a $8,000 copay each month....we found them help! I love my job......wouldn't even quit right away if I won Powerball!
