Hey Wednesday Penguins - I Used To Bowl A Lot, So I'm In Pretty Good Shape! (Read 238 times)

One Half So Far

    Howdy amigos.

Was able to do 5.5 last night outside.  No snow, no rain, got lucky.  Ran at 9:03 pace, which is really fast for me.

Good to hear people are doing well.  SRD for me.

    Mmmmm...beer

Awood & Scotty, you guys know me too well, I was able to get another 10 miles in before music class (where I am now).  It was a great run too, 62* and sunny. Smile

Streaks alive...another 6 tonight.  It's an easy number to manage.  It's right about an hour, and I'm starting to get hungry around that time.

Brady - I could see you getting sub-25 with no problem!

Zel - Specialty alloys can be difficult to explain.  When I tell my friends that I'm going to lunch with a customer from the steel mill, they always say, "Don't you sell steel?  Do you sell steel to the steel mill?".  Yes, and yes.  If you're not on either side of that transaction, it can be difficult to explain.

n8ugv - Just send that snow this way.  I need some.

Tori - Good to see that you're back, and posting some miles.

URD for me, had a meeting today with our pastor that took a bit longer than expected. Oh well, I'll run the next 3 days.

awood, I work for a steel mill, we do not call alloys steel. I work in a carbon sheet mill, we run some rather exotic grades, and I also know there is much more speciality steel than what we make. Do you deal with Nucor?

Mitch - We sure do.  I think you're outside of my territory, but we make coiler guide liners, chutes, hoppers, baghouse fans, bucket liners, descale hoods, etc.  Anything AR, Chromium Carbide overlay, armor grade, etc.

Crawfordsville sound familiar? I hired in over 20 years ago, I started at the Arkansas(Hickman) sheet mill. I spent several weeks up there doing my training. Transferred to the Alabama sheet mill a little over 10 years ago. It's weird that you mentioned the armor material. We produce an armor grade here, and as far as alloys, it's got everything except the kitchen sink in it. It's like grade 90, or it might even be 100. I've worked in the rolling mill for 17+ years, and being familiar with all the different grades, I'm a little knowledgable of the different types of alloys and some of their characteristics. Nucor is fairly new into the SBQ type steels too, at least in the bar mills. FWIW, it's really cool that someone here is kinda in "my" field, lol, or me in yours. Sometimes I feel as a bit of an outsider with all the folks here in the "professional" field.

Mitch, Crawfordsville is just south of my territory.  I wonder if I could get them to shift the line a few miles...lol  I run from Toledo to Davenport to Detroit and to just North of Indianapolis.  Soooo....close....lol

Kristin - I'll do the best I can.

Kristin, I'm sorry if that came across as too personal for you. I really meant no harm. We supply for tube companies like ACIPCO, Southland, Independence Tube, and Maverick to name a few. Awood, maybe some day you 'll get to pick up C-ville then. Don't know I you are aware, but I'm from Detroit.

No bother.... that's why I made a silly face. Those tube companies supply my dad's company. He has bought tubes from all of those mentioned. His company then turns those tubes into bent tubes that will be turned into parts for things like coffeemakers, gas fire places, cars, medical equipment, ect.

Hey penguins! I think I am going to join you all in here. Tonight I did 10.11 miles at an average 12 mm pace. It felt great, and is the farthest I have run while pregnant. I'm feeling much more confident about the half marathon I'm running in about 3.5 weeks.

                            Running for two!
