Week 28 Penguins are so childish! (07/09-07/15) (Read 10 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Hiya, Penguins!!  Today is Be A Kid Again Day.  So if you run past a playground, swing on the swings!  If it rains, splash in a puddle (this is quite likely for me).  Color, paint, or draw!  Tell a fart joke!  Anything that lightens your day and leads to a little bit of play is a wonderful thing, so go for it!

I had an awesome week with old friends, reminiscing and talking about all their kids and all our pets, laughing like crazy, etc.  Good times all the way around, and good to get away with DH as well.   Coming back to work was difficult, especially since I have a week's worth of backlog to catch up on now.  My to-do list is long!!

My friend and I bought our plane tickets to Scotland yesterday.  The trip is planned for early September.  Should be good fun!

HopesMom, Scotland!  So excited for you!

Rainy day here. We had 3 inches last night/this morning so far, so I'll have some puddles to splash through.

Morning, Penguins!!  I'm not so sure I acted much like a kid yesterday -- I was updating stuff on our calendar yesterday afternoon and noticed that surprise!  I had quartet rehearsal last night!  It's usually Wednesday, but our lead is going on vacation, so we pushed it forward a couple of nights.  Lucky I noticed when I did!  So I went haring off to sing last night.

This morning, yoga done and biking done.  I can't believe I missed the rain all day yesterday.  I thought for sure I was going to get soaked biking out -- it was all grey and ominous, but there wasn't much more than a sprinkle.  Guess it's all hitting Ginny!

Yep, Scotland is going to be exciting!  My friend is already completely hyped since we bought our tickets, I will probably get hyped in another month or so.  I have a lot of July to get through yet!

Morning!  I didn't run last night so I have Pilates and 6 tonight.

Ginny, hoping the rainy run went well.

HopesMom, glad you noticed about the rehearsal before it happened.

The walk with Ben was rainy, the run was just humid.

Today is probably a rest day. My runs have been feeling much harder lately, so I think I need a break.

                Singer who runs a smidge

So after my walk yesterday and then biking back to my car, I noticed that I was ... ahem ... slightly ripe.  Or possibly that my armpit stench could fight off skunks.  Anyway, I think after my walk I'll add in a little sponge bath and fresh deodorant application.  Just to save the sensibilities of anyone within a 15-foot radius.  At least until it cools off a bit!

So, yoga and biking done, walk later.

Morning!  I have 9 miles tonight.

Ginny, hope you enjoyed your rest day.

HopesMom, I am always afraid to smell like that, lol.

Well, at least today I mostly smell like fresh deodorant ...

Today might be an RD.  Dusty refused to get up when the alarm went off, so DH slept in too, which threw a spike into my normal yoga time.  No biking today due to chorus, and I'll wait to see if it's pouring for my normal walk time.  However, my chorus director is out of town this week and next, which means that I, as assistant director, will be down front waving my arms.  That's definitely enough exercise for one day!

Have fun with chorus tonight. I hope you manage a walk as well.

We've got intermittent thunderstorms all day, which wouldn't be so bad except that the dew point is up in the mid-70s. Looks like another TM day unless the storms drop the temperatures later.

Morning!  I have 7 miles tonight.  I woke up with a headache yesterday that lasted most of the day (fortunately I was WFH) and I went to Pilates yesterday and that was it.

HopesMom, hoping the chorus was fun.

Ginny, hope you enjoyed the TM.

Chorus was awesome -- they worked really hard and we had a lot of fun!  Although I did not get my walk in yesterday, FitBit credited me with 55 minutes of exercise while I was directing.  This does not surprise me in the least, it's definitely a workout, and a sweaty one at that!  I also got more steps in than any day so far this week, all due to directing.  Woo-hoo!

Skipped yoga this morning -- after clamshells and a couple of sun salutations, I totally wasn't feeling it, so rolled up my mat and gave up.  It's like saying you have permission to quit after you've run a mile if it's just not happening.  I did bike in, though, and plan to go for a walk later.  I might stop and pick up donuts for breakfast tomorrow -- Tuesday is DH's birthday, so that could make the weekend breakfast a little special.  Trying to figure out how to transport them on the bike though ... have to make sure they stay in my basket without squishing them!
