Hey There Saturday Penguins, It's Ground Hog's Day (Read 30 times)

Fear is a Liar

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." WinkIt can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      Fear is a Liar

Good Morning Damaris and other penguins soon to follow!

        From yesterday :

RickDecker - welcome to the colony!

Jack - I sing mostly rock. Can narrow that down to southern rock as in Lynyrd Skynyrd

Zel - I see people doing high intensity on the gym treadmill. They run like mad on level 10 and lean over the console grabbing it like a sea sick sailor!

Damaris - good luck on the 10!

I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!

My wife and i doing one of those fun color runs. I found out yesterday that my son can do it and we can take the baby in a jog stroller. This is going to be a family fun run. I am happy, excited, and nervous at the same time.

I slept better before my marathon than I did last night. My wife told me yesterday on the way to packet pickups that she wants to get to the point where we can run races together. This is pretty exciting to me Smile

I will try to get some pictures up sometime.

Getting ready for the gym. I am going to mostly do the elliptical....but the PLAN is to jump on the treadmill for a very, very, short run! Fingers crossed for pain free!!!

And then this evening I am signed up for a 90 minute massage with a medical massage therapy specialist. It's going to be crazy expensive, but I am hoping worth it!

T-Rod enjoy the color run! I was going to do one of those in March with a group of friends but the race got postponed due to them not being able to clean up the park fast enough from Hurricane Sandy damage. They rescheduled it to 4th of July weekend and I can't commit to it because I may be going away. Have fun!!!

                  Morning All!

I am scheduled for a LR of 11, but it will be snowing all day, so I'm not sure what the roads/sidewalks are going to be like tonight.

Thank you all for the welcome.  Someone asked if I was signed up for any races yesterday.  I am signed up for the Flying Pig HM in  May.  I will be my first HM after running numerous 5ks and 10ks the last two years.

                  Cheers!

                  Return To Racing

Snowing in ChiTown, so we will definitely be back to one of the tracks in the afternoon when the seniors will be napping.

Have a fun, Fun Run, Tomas.

                      Good morning everyone!!

6.6 miles done this morning, first part of a double.  I dropped the car off to get inspected and ran home, so I'll run back later when it's done to pick it up.  I love that I have the ability to do this now, never would have been an option in the past!

Good morning!  Just 5.5 easy today to round out a very successful week of training.  I have 5 more weeks of pretty aggressive mileage build, but then the miles come back down even more quickly.

I like the Sauconys that I have so much that I'm really tempted to go try on some Kinvaras.

                        D- Enjoy the 10 later.

Gustav- Yes, that's exactly what I mean.  Or they'll do the jog, run, sprint maybe 5 times then be done.  Hope you have a good day!

T-rod- Sounds like a great run with the family.  I hope that you enjoy it, and that you can get the colors out of the stroller.

                        Kristin- Fingers crossed for you!

Bin- Hope you are able to get out of your funk.

Rick- Hope you are able to get your run in with the snow!  Do you have a specific plan that you will be following for your half?

Jerry- Have a good "frogger" run later!

D2- That's one way to make sure you get your double in!

Damaris, I remembered your wise word.  I think it should not be overtraining as my miles are only 30 last week. When I did my 4miles this afternoon, I felt I can run more but I had to head back to pick up DS from his class.

Should be just plain laziness. Haa. So embarrassing. Need to come out of this lazy spell.

                            Mornin' gang...

14 miles on the treadmill for me.  11:47 pace overall... not bad.  I kept the heart rate under 135 for the first half then pick up the pace and then under 150 for the second half.  Good stuff.   I'll be on a very large "boat" someplace warm in 9 days.  I can't freakin' wait.  I'm going to run on the deck side track freakin' DAILY.  LOL  Bring on the vitamin D!

Overtraining and doing too much are two different things.  It does not mean that Pfitz is too much for you but it may be that Pfitz + life stuff are too much for you and that you should adjust a bit.

Just returned from the gym. Elliptical for 25 minutes, stretched, then....

TREADMILL FOR 10 MINUTES!!! Ran a 12mm pace comfortably for 10 minutes. I cut it off there not because it hurt, but because it felt really, really good and I didn't want to risk it. It is my first run in 3 weeks afterall. Then I did a few exercises from the myrtl routine and a few from the strength running ITB routine, regular plank for a minute, and a minute on each side, pylometric jump squats, and then a real good long stretch session. Now sitting with my coffee, catching up on DVR, icing the knee (just in case) and hoping for no delayed onset ITB pain. Can't wait for my massage tonight!

Have a great day, lots of great runs going on!
