Beginners and Beyond

Happy Tuesday, Penguins!! (Read 8 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Apparently I've used this title before.  Well, I can't be original and witty all the time!!  Surprised at how much lower the humidity is today, so I will take advantage with a walk after a while.  Woo-hoo!!

With all the years of Penguin threads, not surprised there comes a time there are no new names.

        I have 7 with 4 X 800m tonight.  My head hurts.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

I suspect there are new names, there just weren't any in my brain this morning.  Hope your head feels better!!

          Barking Mad To Run

Up EARLY this morning, 4:30 a.m., down to Fort Sam by 5 a.m. and out and doing my run/walk. Lots of the young military trainees were out too, doing their PT running. Love that Fort Sam closes a portion of the on-base roads until 6:30 a.m. in the morning, you can just run right down the middle of the road if you want to, no traffic at all. Very motivating being around these folks running, including a few Wounded Warriors I saw out there and had the pleasure of running and chatting with one of the Wounded Warriors for about 10 minutes. I had planned on 3 miles but was feeling really good so just kept going for a while. Ended up with 5.2 miles. Very nice outing.

Scotty, you seem to be "feeling good so I kept going" a lot these days.  Woo-hoo!!

Scott -that sounds like a very good run.

D - good luck with your 800s this evening.

HM - I hope you were able to enjoy a walk in the cooler weather.

We had a cold front pass through, so today was only in the 70s with dew points in the high 50s - sweet! I did an 8 mile run from town to home, then mowed the lawn. Now I'm pooped, but feeling good.
