    Fail and Fail


    No more marathons

      • Get an age graded 80% at any distance
      • Qualify for 2017 National Senior Games at the NC State 2016 Senior Games
        1. 1500 - 5:45 to 5:50
        2. 5000 - sub 21
        3. 800 - 2:59
      • Stay healthy for a second year.

       

      There's still hope (not much) for goal #1

      Qualified for the 1500, 5000, and 10,000 but did not hit the time goals.  DNS on the 800

      So far so good on that last one - 'nuff said, not superstitious or anything.

        4) < 4:00:00 in a very hilly February marathon.  This might be a pipedream, But I'm still making it my A-goal.

              If all I manage to do in 2016 is not break anything or get hurt, I'll be thrilled.  (I'm sure my insurance company will be thrilled too if I make it through one freaking year without multiple MRI scans.)

               

              But.

              • 5K PR (ideally sub-21)
              • HM PR (ideally sub-1:35, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA)
              • NYCM uninjured -- finish time irrelevant (though a PR would be nice)

                • Mileage goal for the year is a meager (to me) 2000 miles, as cycling will take up a large chunk of time

                As things currently stand, I do not see how or where I'll be able to fit a marathon into my schedule.

                • Not even close on the mileage goal, but the training plan just didn't call for it.  I set a huge PR in cycling mileage.

                I couldn't be happier with my year and it ain't over yet.  Squeezing in a marathon and getting my BQ was just icing on the cake.

                                2016 was to be the year of a half ironman tri, but already the budget for that isn't happening. So pushing that to 2017 or 2018.

                                 

                                Spring 5K PR

                                Fall Peachtree Wave A time in the HM (PR would be nice, but Wave A is what I am going for - 1:45:47)

                                 

                                Lose 15lbs - That is going to be the hardest one of all.

                                So exercise totals for 2016

                                Running 1719 miles (281:20:39) (goal was 1500, revised mid year to 1650)
                                Cycling 1009 miles (68:53:58) (goal was 1000)
                                Swimming 7.6 miles

                                Major Strides
                                Won a 3 hour timed race (For the 3rd year in a row)
                                Moved my 5K PR from 23:21 to 21:57
                                Moved my HM PR from 1:42:41 to 1:38:20

                                Longest ride ever of 82.4 miles

                                I end the year 20 lbs lighter than i started it, and my lipids profile is so much better (HDL especially).

                                Goals for 2017
                                Log 1650 running, 1000 cycling miles.

                                Moving in steps towards a 3:30 marathon (in Spring 2018), the check marks I want to hit are 21 min 5K in the Spring and then a sub 1:35 half in the Fall (probably the Silver Comet half again, that course suits me).
