The threads over there remind me a lot of the old L&O.   L&O was the Letters and Opinions forum on RWOL ... Words can't really describe the old L&O, you needed to experience the L&O.  haha.  Think of it as something like the RWOL version of a frat house.  It was definitely not everyone's cup of tea & there was generally an initiation for new members, but if you could get past that there were some excellent runners there and it could be pretty damned funny.

The regulars over there would occasionally invade the BF and raise a ruckus.  We also had a mileage game with them (they beat us pretty handily if I recall).

Ha ha......frat house would be about 20 floors up, personal escort up a spiral staircase and another single step up to the marble foyer in comparison to the old L & O. Big grin

    not lazy, just tired

I think Carebears and Rainbows need to die an ominous painful death.

and please get rid of the pony pooping rainbows.

      Not if it makes sense.

Probably harmless...but it makes me think about what we all would have done or felt like if the BF (the spam-free old BF) had been invaded by a few hundred new people.  I actually thought to myself the other day that everyone is describing it as a "migration" but the RA regulars probably see it more as an "invasion."

I know this is old and I know this sat for a day.  For the few that don't feel comfortable yet, just keep in mind the scale.  Not sure where the 300 number came from (I guess membership of this group?) but yes.... 100s of RWOLs showed up over a few days... from L&O too... and besieged a place where, I dunno, less than 50 people posted regularly in the main board.  So when you are trying to imagine what it would be like if something had happened to your happy pre-spam place, well, it wouldn't have been 300 invaders.   300 invaded 50 here.  6 to 1.

It would be more like if 1800 new people showed up on BF in a few days and started calling you "they" and "elitist" and filled up BF with a bunch of stuff wherein the new folks only talked to each other in a strangely different language.

        So think about that.

That thread was pretty harmless.  You should have been around when coolrunning imploded.

          50? Surely more than that.

It's not just 300 / 50, or 500 / 100, or whatever; it's also that all the new people were naturally more active exploring this new place than all us regulars that are just here doing our normal thing.

So now we are the spamers....oh, the hunted become the hunter. And we did not even notice. Nice joke you played on the quiet little forum SRL...Big grin

In the main board?  Regularly?  Have you been here much in the past 4 months?  I realize "regularly" is not quantifiable as is, but the main boards weren't seeing a lot of action by a "lot" of people.

              Not a dude

I'm on my phone so quoting is funky, but SRL, when you just mentioned 1800 new posters invading and flooding the BF with a bunch of crap...well, I couldnt help but think that it was entirely too accurate. That is a HUGE reason we're here. At least we are not trying to get these folks to watch live streaming sporting events or get new passports. Smile

Yes, except for when I took October off from all social interwebbing. Hard to make a count, but I would have said a lot more than 50. And it never seemed sparse to me. Your perspective is influenced by comparison to RWOL, perhaps.

The relevant metric is, if I ask a question, can I get a bunch of good answers? And the answer to that here has always been yes. For greater quantities of social stuff, there is that other place that must not be named.
