Shoes on Saturday Penguins (Read 28 times)

hog4life

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

I scored 2 new pair of shoes yesterday. One of them was an exchange, turned in Nike Structure for Brooks Ravenna, and then bought Brooks Glycerin with insert. DW got a new sports bra, and we walked out with a savings of $100. I can't post pics bc I'm at work, but will do it later. I'll do a little test run when I get home.

        Good morning Penguins!

        Mitch- Good score!

A few miles for me today just to make up my 20 for the week.  I also have to bake something for a party I am going to.  Working at the library for now.

Still waiting for the perfect race picture. 5K PR-33:52 , 10K PR 1:11:16, First HM 2:42:28

Morning! We are here in the emerald state. Not sure what the plan is for today, but I do hope to get a run in. Could be interesting since "hill" is in the name of the town.

Hi Pens. Today is the second day of my PF layoff. No running for two weeks, per doctor's orders. Let's hope the time off does the trick.  Grandma's funeral is today. Not fun but it will be nice to see some cousins that live up north.

                Have a good day.

                  Morning Penguins!

Mitch-- Yay@ the running shoes and the savings!  Merry Christmas again!

SF-- great job on the miles!

Dan-- so glad you're feeling so much better.

Zel-- good luck on the hill town run.  It should be fun to run some place new.

Jack-- I know its not under the best circumstances, but I hope you enjoy your family visits.

I did 6-1/2 today, and felt relatively normal.  Now headed to Phoenix for an overnighter.  Scotty-- hope your CC race was awesome.

Good luck to all the weekend racers!

                  Return To Racing

10 mile SLR on the streets.  Really nice out, but legs and feet tired out.  Too much time since last LR really messes us up.  Looks like a crappy week ahead.

Need 9 more miles for 1,200 and 3 days to go.

5 miles for me today. It was so warm out! The temperature's going to drop about 45 degrees overnight. I'm not kidding. Enjoying the sun and thawing snow while I can.

Jack, been meaning to say, hope it's nothing major and recover soon.

A beautiful sunny Saturday here - over 50 degrees.  Our temps are going to drop, but not as much as Obiebyke's. Tomorrow is supposed to be 39 and rainy.  We did a really good 7 mile loop hike in the state forest, partly on the AT.  There was a little snow and ice underfoot, but not enough to be a problem, just enough that Ben didn't want to spend any time playing in the creeks.  I got wet feet, but the deeper stream crossings were at the end of the hike, so I was able to get warm again with the car heater.

Mitch - have you worn either of those shoes before?  Nice score, with $100 savings.

Stonefence - good job on the 20 mile week.

Damaris - sorry the pain kept you from running this a.m. Hope it's better now.

Dan - you earned your rest day.  I'm glad you're back to normal running again.

Zel - have fun with the hills.  How long will you be in Washington?

Jack - sorry about your grandmother, but I hope you enjoy seeing family again, despite the circumstances.

Cherie - have you been dealing with a specific injury, or just post marathon exhaustion?

Jerry - I'm sure you'll make your 1200, even if the weather is bad.  Not surprisingly, I won't make my 1000 mile goal for running,  though I did pass my 1000 mile walking goal.

Obiebyke - we also took advantage of the good weather while we had it.  Carpe diem.

My legs felt dead today so I only dd 5.5--not the 8 miles planned. I still ended up with 25 miles for the week, my highest in a while. Slowly but surely clawing out from the "lazies".

                              Ran 3 easy miles today.

Missed check in today. Was at the Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium watching Rutgers lose to Notre Dame. Finally got a call from my doctor while at the game and he looked at my MRI....no stress fracture (yay!) but he did see trauma to the talonavicular ligament and posterior tibial tendon and inflammation of the synovial fluid. So....keep resting and wearing the boot for now.
