Last Monday Penguins (Read 15 times)

Zelanie

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

How are you spending your last Monday of the year?  I slept in, and will probably catch up with some stuff around the house.  I'll run Day 31 of my streak at some point here.

      Jill.

      Penguin Power!

What a late start to the thread today =P

Today I'll run some amount - probably on the treadmill because I can't deal with the cold right now.  I made a training plan called "don't die at the manhattan half"... I've been sick for most of December and I still have this lingering cough.  I just need to get back to running regularly at this point.  Any thoughts of PRing or doing well at the race are completely gone from my head. =(

        Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Afternoon!  I am not planning on running much until the end of the year, so maybe some weights or kickboxing, not sure.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

          Return To Racing

I am working today and will run inside this afternoon.  We are having an ice storm today, so it might take me 15 minutes to get home.

This morning I rode in the car with DH when he went to the gym, and ran home. Five miles, mostly downhill

              Barking Mad To Run

I did a run/walk at Randolph Air Force Base this morning. My 7th running day in a row and I'm still feeling good. Very nice/run walk, 3.5 miles done at 10:30 a.m. in 41 degrees, with a 'feels like' of 36 or so cuz of that darn nonstop blowing 15 - 20mph wind, good grief. I was in shorts too. Made sure that wind was at my back coming back to the gym. I'm not the only crazy person....some Air Force folks were out in shorts doing their PT test around the track. I really felt for them, it was dang nippy out there! Small world too, I met one of my Facebook and runner acquaintances who was going to do a workout at the gym, we had a nice chat; and now her name has gone right out of my head...duhhhh....stupid "Senior Moments!"

PAD - did you get snow?

Scott - you have a nice streak going.  Take advantage of the goodl weather while you have it.

Melanie - will you keep the streak going after New Years?

Jill - I hope you manage to get rid of your cough soon.

Damaris - I hope you enjoyed your rest day.

Jerry - stay safe in the snow and ice.

Margo - I love running home from different places.  Sounds like you had a good run.

I did 5 easy on the TM this evening.

PAD - did you get snow?

We had a few flurries this morning no accumulation. We've had about everything else in the last few days.
