Nice races Dave and LRB!  I laugh at the description of a 20:47 as "hardish." Smile  10k for me today. 47 flat, which is a 13 minute PR, but it was far from a perfect race.  I've come to the conclusion that 10ks are from the devil.

Nice job! The 10k is rough but it makes you better at every other distance.

      Barking Mad To Run

Busy and crazy weekend in Texas.  Gail and I drove down on Friday night to Katy, Texas - about 3 hours from San Antonio - where she had a conference on Saturday - and while she was at her conference I did the Cinco Ranch Rotary Camo 5K - http://www.runningahead.com/groups/BF_and_Beyond/forum/ae004befe18c49cd9d67da5f11cce901/resume#focus

This race was in honor and memory of our veterans and I got lots of photos of people carrying the flag.  Pretty nice event.

Gail and I drove back Saturday afternoon and got home just in time to beat the rain.  Good thing too, because we had major flooding all over the place...in nearby Wimberley (about an hour from us) THREE HUNDRED houses got washed away and there were some fatalities.  You can probably go online and see all the crazy photos of stuff around here, including poor ole Blanco, Texas, which really got flooded.  To give you an example, this was taken in Blanco about 18 hours ago...the Blanco River washed out this bridge...

And poor ole Wimberley...sad for the folks up there...

Sunday, we actually got a break but today it is raining again and a tornado actually touched down in Fredericksburg, Texas (about 90 miles from me and Gail), sheesh!   San Antonio has probably been the least hardest-hit - thank goodness -  out of all our local area towns and cities.

I did do a run/walk on Sunday, ending up with 4.3 miles and it was good to be back in San Antonio, our humidity is much less than that in the Houston area and I felt great running in the home area again...no unplanned walk breaks this time.   Although I did run on Fort Sam Houston and going around one blind curve, I became a hurdler for moment, as I had to jump part of a tree that was down and across the road, sheesh.  My old-man legs were in shock that I made them jump, lol.  Back to Fort Sam on Memorial Day...this time the other side of the base and I did hill work, ending up with 3.5 miles.  I did manage to beat the rain, but it was so humid out there by about Mile 2 I was wishing it WOULD rain on me, lol.  It didn't.

I heard about the floods Scotty, that blows. Glad you are okay though. Smile

Congrats on the great races, D, LRB & cjones!

Scotty - Glad you are OK.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

6.3 mostly easy but did a harder effort on the last hill. Summer is definitely here, I barely needed the shower to wet my hair.

Nice racing LRB, DaveP and Cjones!

Scotty, glad you are ok and hope the weather settles down. That whole area can't seem to catch a break.

I ran 7 and detoured at a cemetary where my parents are buried. I was going to head there after my run, but then it dawned on me that it is close to my course. I will do that more often now.

Scotty, wow... That's terrible! So sorry to see this happen. :-(

So I did 45 minutes of some sort of pitiful homemade core work exercises. I'll try to keep it up in the coming weeks. We'll see if it helps...

Congratulations LRB, DaveP and CJones on really good races today.

I did six on the TM.  I'm not ready for summer, but it has arrived.

About to go out and run 3.1 miles. This year has been a continuation of last year. I finally recovered from the abductor pull in late February. After having a solid March, I pulled my quad. I spent April recovering from the quad pull. Yesterday, I ran my first 5 mile run since March.

On the positive side - I booked my vacation for this year. We will be in Tampa in late July. DD wants to see Winter and Hope. I guess I will get to experience some of those humid runs like I did in Houston a couple years ago.
