Monday Penguins, celebrating rescue animals!! (Read 9 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

It's Holiday Food Drive for Needy Animals Day!  Kaycee was the only one of our cats who would eat canned food, so when she passed, we gave nearly a full case of cat food to the local SPCA.  I love those guys!  All of our pets are rescues, in one way or another.  Dusty came from the SPCA, and Chewie and Maggie both just appeared out of the bushes.

We had a somewhat unexpected snow event this weekend -- it was somewhat unexpected, but also only a somewhat event.  I used it as an excuse to postpone my Saturday chorus meeting, basically because I was comfy and happy at home and didn't want to go out.  I did make fudge, though ... hoping my egg nog fudge is a little less ... rocklike ... when it comes back to room temperature.  I put it in the fridge to set up, and that thing could hammer nails!

And I think, with the Amazon order I just placed, that I am done with my Christmas shopping!!  Not so much the Christmas wrapping ...

HM - how much snow did you get?  Good luck with the next batch of fudge. I only have two people left to shop for: a teenage boy who will probably get an Amazon gift card and a 7 year old girl that I can take care of next time I visit Target.

Today is probably a rest day for me, since we need to get out and look for a Christmas tree and there aren't many people selling this year. I'm not sure what happened. They used to be everywhere but it seems like every year there are fewer and fewer.

Yay for rescue animals!  Bugsy is doing awesome, FYI.

I have weights and that's it for me.

Hope, I saw our offices near you all closed due to your snowmaggedon, ha.  Yay for being done with shopping.

Ginny, they are all over around here so maybe they shipped them our way?

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

We got about a half inch.  Though they hadn't treated the roads, so it was slightly iffy getting home Friday.  Weird, though -- usually weather hits over the mountain, then Cville, then Richmond.  But this storm definitely hit Richmond "worse", if you can call a couple of inches worse.

I heard there was a Christmas tree shortage this year.  No idea why, since we don't put up a tree, but apparently there just aren't as many this year for some reason.
