Thursday Penguins, speaking of alarms ... (Read 7 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

So as soon as I got to work this morning and parked my car, the alert sirens sounded across campus.  This is the one they set off for tornadoes, active shooters, and the apocalypse.  So I stayed in my car (we're supposed to shelter in place), seatbelt fastened, so I could gun it out of there if needed.  I checked the campus website, where there was no alert posted.  And then the sirens quit.  So I hopped out of my car and walked to my office.  When I turned on my computer, there was a big flashing message saying, "Accidental activation, no alert in progress!!"

      Oops.

Sheesh, must be spreading!  Oops.  Glad it was nothing.

Morning!  I went to Orange Theory class this morning and ran 3.18 of speed and hills.  Have either 5 miles tonight or 5 miles for the day, depending on how tired I feel then.  Ha.

HM - I'm glad it wasn't anything serious. These days, you never know.

D - that was a good workout. No rowing I take it?

It's pouring rain here, a storm that may last all day. If there is a break, I'll run outside. If not, TM.

Yeah, the class is a full hour, so there was rowing during the weights part.  Three exercises and rowing 600m, rinse and repeat.

            Barking Mad To Run

5.2 miles of hilly hills at Fort Sam Houston this morning.   I started at 6:15 a.m. thinking to beat the heat but, hey, this is Texas.  Already dang near 78 degrees at that time in the morning.   Even so, felt pretty good and had a good run/walk.  At one point went speeding around the corner of a building and almost ran smack into a marching troop of Army trainees who were going to class.  Glad they were not carrying rifles with bayonets out!
