Tuesday Penguins are Tired (Read 18 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

This one is anyway.  Ben woke us up early, desperate to go out and relieve himself of some of the gallon or more of water he drank last night in response to the Benadryl.  At least he wasn't sick this morning and isn't scratching.

I'm planning a short run after we walk him. It's 51 this morning - shorts weather! Weird.

Count me in on the tired penguins, for sure.  Didn't sleep at all last night, between a sore throat and no other reason.  FFS.  I have 7 miles tonight.

Ginny, glad Ben isn't sick this morning.  Enjoy the walk.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Ginny - it is good to hear that he's feeling better

DR - 7 miles on no sleep with a sore throat sounds terrible :-(

It is beautiful outside today.  I may try for a short run (probably intervals) to see if I can do it without dry heaves.  That's been my major barrier to running so far.  I've basically just been walking an hour or so a day instead of running.  I can't wait to start feeling better.

          Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Damaris - sorry you're sick. Good luck with the run.

Jill - I hope your morning sickness eases soon. When are you due?

I had a nice 5.7 mile run in the sun. A bit windy, but very nice.

I found out part of the reason Ben was sick:  one of our neighbors dumped several pounds of fried chicken (legs and wings) into the grassy area where we walk him.  It's been there several days and he has managed to snatch some a couple of times.  I had no idea of how much was there until I started looking more closely this morning. I don't know if they were trying to be kind (feed the mink and feral cats) or if they were trying to kill off some of the dogs, but several day old chicken is not healthy for anybody. No wonder he was throwing up. Sometimes I really hate some of our neighbors!

            Penguin Power!

Due mid July so I should be feeling better soon. I did 24 minutes of 2 minutes running (really slowly) 1 minute walking. It went okay so I'll try to go again Thursday for a bit longer with a bit longer intervals. Tomorrow I'll go for a swim if the pool hours are suitable.
