Good luck to all the turkey trotters! OFR, you doin' one? If so, kick some ass coach! Oh, and y'all are a bad influence. I might have just decided to do a marathon because this shit is literally a contagious disease up in here. It's been 15 years since my last one. I think it's time.

No, we are going to do a ? on Dec 9th. DW will do the 5K, but I'm undecided on that or 10k, but could do another Half too?
Good luck tomorrow! Sounds warm. it's 76 here now at about 4 PM! Going to head out for 5 more before long.
Hey, great you have decided to do another one! Just get a good full three month buildup in. Don't do something stupid like I did (6 weeks). I mean, if you want to race it. Just running one, you could do it anytime-taking walk breaks.

Please provide general time frame & we will pick the race for you. This is a service included with your RA B&B entry fee. You're welcome.
We can even tell her where she'll place in her AG. We're good like that.

What's wrong with a 6 week marathon plan?
I hope you are being facetious. But it depends on your goals (racing all out or just finish) and mileage you have been carrying before that. Optimal is 3-4 months if you have a good base and have been being consistent on your 14-16 mile LRs, IMO. Having only done two, I'm not an expert for sure, but I know the basics of training for one.
Everyone has an opinion on the best way to train for one too, probably more so than any other race. They are more unpredictable than any other race too.

I'm not. Although maybe it was closer to 7 weeks and goal was to finish upright. The free shoes from Strava would have been nice, but just missed them.
I buy online. Black Friday deals in the comfort of my home.
I bought a pair of Monster bluetooth headphones for lil'girl at bestbuy online. They started their black friday sale on Monday. The silver and gold models were gone by the time I was ready to commit, so I jumped on a pair of black ones. 100$ instead of 300$ list price. Quite a deal.
For lil'boy I wanted to get him a gaming monitor for his computer, but the good deal at bestbuy was sold out. I have a job, can't shop all day. So I found a decent deal at costco. Could have waited until Friday for maybe bigger deals, but didn't want to risk being late and be stuck with leftovers.
The biggest part of my christmas shopping is done. No crowds. No traffic. I love it.
I am doing zero shopping, this year and probably not for the next 10 years, after all these vet bills.
Got 5 more in.
Have a good Thanksgiving, and good luck to all the racers tomorrow!
Half Crazy: Exactly! Just finish upright, and not record PR race, it really don't matter how long you train for one.
Christmas: We buy what we want/need throughout the year, and don't exchange money with our family. It's all hype where retailers make most all their money for the whole year anyway.
We do believe in Jesus (whose B-day we are supposedly celebrating, although it probably wasn't in December, and people brought Him gifts, they didn't give them to each other) and help support some missionaries and a boy in India throughout the year and use our "Christmas" money to give some everyday type gifts to people who are dirt poor in India. Not that our way is the best way to do it, but it is our way, and we still like the good cheer of the season that some people seems to have over a funny fat man. Merry Christmas!
Ran 6 with 2 @ way faster than MP. Oops. 77F and 70 dewpoint felt...humid.
I actually don't think I have anything to buy except a couple of gifts for my Elfster person in an exchange, which I'll probably find Saturday online instead.
Bugsy is back home and with his new dad upstairs. Walking around like he is the only one in the house, instead of 5th cat.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

When you have grandchildren, Christmas shopping is a necessity. Fortunately, we let their parents tell us what to buy, so it's simple. I tell my husband what I want (new Garmin) and hopefully he'll tell me what new books he'd like to own this year. Buying for my 93 year old father is a lot more difficult.
3 miles and 4 striders done before work this morning. 10K in the morning, guess I should come up with a plan
I knew it was dangerous lurking around here. Have signed up for the Zydeco Marathon on March 4th.

Are we there, yet?
So you wouldn't approve of the 2 week plan I used before my first one? Train one week, taper one week.
