Tired Tuesday Penguins (Read 9 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Sleepless night last night, which is unusual for me.  I gave up around 5:30 and got up because I was starving.  I'm eating like a horse these days, but still losing weight, thanks to the bigger than usual miles.  This is a cutback week, so hopefully I'll get a handle on my appetite, just not today.

It's pouring rain, so walking Ben will have to wait a bit. I'll wait to see if it dries out this afternoon, or maybe I'll get on the TM for my 5 today. My legs are still stiff from Sunday's run.  They hurt more from the 20 flat miles than they did from the 19 hilly the week before.  More repetitive motion, I guess.

Morning!  I have a bike ride tonight.

Ginny, enjoy the run wherever you end up doing it.  Stay dry.

        Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  I have a smidge of a headache this morning, we'll see if the Excedrin kicks it.  It not, it's more of an annoyance than anything else.  I got a lot of awards coordinator stuff done yesterday, as well as conditioning (yet another) new column, so that's all good.  Keep on keeping on!!

Ginny -- I bet DH is sore today, hope he feels better!

Zel, from yesterday -- you must be smoking something!  I'm taking next Monday off to recuperate from the show, but I don't get President's Day off.

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

            Penguin Power!

              Hi pens!

I ran today. Literally just day 1 of couch to 5k on the treadmill but better than nothing. I'll move onto the week two workout on Thursday. I'm just trying to ease into it.

              Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

As predicted another RD for me today. Left knee is still a little wonky. I took a walk around the parking lot to check out the Cirque du Soleil setup. The will be in our parking lot till 3/26.

I'll try to run a few trail miles tomorrow.

Jill - what happened?  Were you injured?

D - enjoy the bike ride. Are you alternating days for walking?

PAD - good luck with the knee. Do you need new shoes?  I ended up tossing a pair recently that only had 300 miles on them when I realized that they were causing me knee pain.

I ended up turning my planned 5 to 7 miles. The rain stopped so I chose a route that I really like but don't do often because it heads straight into the wind, if the wind is from the west, which is our usual. Somehow the road feels like it's downhill in both directions, which doesn't happen often. I felt good so I stretched it out. This is supposed to be a cutback week, so I need to be cautious about doing that too often, but it felt right at the time.

I just meant that it was kind of like 2 weeks since you're off next Monday, right?

I ran 4.  My husband walked 2 with the dogs along the same route.  So we sort of raced.  I beat him back to the garage by a few steps.  I guess the dogs were super confused and kept going up to strangers the whole time trying to find me.

Afterwards, we went to see the movie Lion.  It was really good, but I think all of us cried the entire time.  I hadn't heard of it, so I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

Ginny, that sound really scary with Jim and Ben and the rocks!  I know that I could never keep my balance anywhere that I had to manage a leash as well!  I hope he's OK today.

PAD- Hope the knee improves!  Are you going to see the Cirque show?

Ginny - I've got 5 pairs of shoes I use in rotation. 4 street and 1 trail.

The street are 200-700 miles. I need to retire a couple of them probably when I can get a new pair on sale. The Trail shoes have about 300 I need another pair of them to rotate with I guess.

Z - Yea, I'm going to the dress rehearsal the night before the opening.
