I'm back from the doctor. He fixed me up with my drugs for a month. Apparently an occlusive clot is pretty bad. They explained it as a complete blockage and there was no way that it should not have been picked up in the July ultrasound.

    I like the doc
tor. This place was very thorough. The doctor seemed extremely interested in trying to find any other route cause other than the airplane trip.

The nurse just about freaked out when I told her I did a HM 10 days after I started the blood thinners though. Haha.

    Personal Bests:

    800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)

Basically, this is old news but I finally got into a specialist today. The clot was diagnosed a month ago. I've been on blood thinners for four weeks now.

Wow, Dan! Glad you're getting fixed up.

Got my 4 in. -4F, -15 with windchill. With all those layers, it's not terrible. My eyelashes were icicles, though!

          Off to a movie tonight.

Cherie, the legs are ok. Working up to a HM in 02Mar but yet to register.

Ginny, felt good with 7M in the kinvara. Had slight SS after running some strides in them at end of marathon training. I always thought it's them and so trying in a short run but ended with 7. Now, I'm not sure which shoes cause the SS to flare up.

Dan, clot sound serious. Glad they caught it.

Jimmy, didn't read the op but hope everything is going well. Chin up!

Ouch.  Hope you get back to 100% soon.

Just ran 3 miles (14 minute pace) in 2" of snow on top of hardpack, 17F, and a snowstorm that made it hard to see the exact trail even with my headlamp on. I felt good, kinda.

OFS: Dang, that is COLD! I thought running in 34 or 35 was cold but I guess not!

Dan: I hope all is well with you.

Hey pens.  It looks like our dog Zoe will probably need back surgery.  She has in issue where her spine meets her sacrum.  Googling about it now- we thought it was going to be knee surgery when we brought her in (she's already had one of those, we were told to expect the other some day).

There's also a small chance that she just pulled a groin muscle and that it hasn't healed.  An MRI would be able to tell the difference, but of course the MRI is $$$ on top of the cost of the surgery that she probably needs.  And the pulled muscle wouldn't explain all the crap that showed up on her vertebra on the xrays.

Zel - I'm sorry.  Having a pet in pain is so hard.  How old is she?

OFS:  If you're doing trail running, of course you're going to be slower.  It's hard to run effortlessly when you have to watch every step.  Be careful out there.

Ginny- She's just 4.  She's always been a delicate flower.  She had some lameness when she was 11 months old that she grew out of, then had her knee surgery at 3.  Poor girl.

I visited Trixie and she looked depressed.  Wouldn't even look at me.  Her test was inconclusive, so they need to open her up and do a biopsy.  Most likely will take her home for a few days, get her strength back up and get her back in for the biopsy.
