Tired Tuesday Penguins (Read 22 times)

Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

      Morning Pens!

Hubby was grinding his teeth big time last night so I'm super tired today.  I wound up skipping my run yesterday for no good reason other than laziness (and my mild remaining sickness).  Anyway, I think I sleep better when I run and I should just get out there.

Morning.  Hubby was snoring last night.  Sapf, maybe we should let them sleep in the same bed and we can then sleep like babies.  ha.  7 miles tonight.

          Morning group walk later.

          Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  Well, I did all my work stuff yesterday, including attending the candidate seminar and then meeting with him afterwards.  Today I have to go to the faculty luncheon to hear his research proposal, start-up needs, and teaching philosophy.  I'm also working to get all the details lined up for our chorus party on Thursday.  I have quartet rehearsal tonight, and only today and tomorrow to work this week!!  Man, DH and I are SOOOOO looking forward to our winter break!

sapf -- sorry about the poor sleep!!  Hope you get to run and sleep today!

Docket -- I have smacked DH with a pillow for snoring before.  It doesn't help, but it makes me feel better ... good luck with your 7!!

PAD -- have a good group walk!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Jill - I hope you get a run in today.  Someone a week or two ago said something about not sleeping well after a rest day.  The past two weeks I've had insomnia after my rest day.  Makes it much harder to run the next day.

PAD - how is your body feeling this time around?  Still hobbling?  I'm hoping that recovery from a second isn't as bad as after the first.

Damaris - enjoy your seven this evening.  I'm very lucky to not be married to a snorer.  I know folks who sleep separately just so they can both get a good night's sleep.

HopesMom - busy week for you, but a good one, it sounds like.  Enjoy your rehearsal.

Another social run tonight, with our main town running club.  They do an annual Christmas Light Hot Chocolate Run and everyone is invited, including the beer runners.  It should be 5 miles, if I don't get lost.

              Jack K.

                Hi Pens.

I have an interval workout today; 5x1000 @ 5k pace.  I think I will do that on the TM.

                Happy shopping to you.

                Brilliant

                  Good morning Penguins!

Jill, I had a bad night, too - I was up for 2 hours in the middle of the night, grr.  I hope you get a run in today.

                  Damaris, have a good 7.

                  PAD, have a good walk!

HopesMom, have a great busy day.

                  Jack, enjoy the intervals!

Ginny, our club did a Christmas Light walk on Sunday night (the neighborhood is really too crowded with families etc. to run it).  It was fun.  I hope you have a great time tonight.

AFM - my running has been limited and lousy lately because of the PF.  I don't even look at my marathon training plan anymore. Sad But this morning I had a pretty good 4.9 miles.  My foot didn't hurt until about mile 4.3.  Now I'm going to meet a friend for a walk of about an hour.

                  Barking Mad To Run

Crazy Texas weather we're having this year.  Usually we've had a couple of 'freezes' by now; not this year.   Chilly mornings in the upper 30s and low 40s and then by my 4 pm run time it's in the 60s.  Today after work for my run/walk it will be 73 degrees, nice.   Probably will do a short n easy run/walk around Fort Sam Houston.

Surprisingly better today, except for going down stairs they are still a little bit tough on the knees.

                      Return To Racing

40* today, so we had a speedy (for us) 5 miles. No walking today, just wanted to get home and warm up.

Brilliant, I got relief from PF by using one of those sock thingies at night and switching to a slightly higher drop shoe. Hope your find your magic bullet.
