Skirt Runner

I have turned my obsession with regular clothes to running clothes. Cute heels and flats and sandals to running shoes. I think running apparel is now more fun than real clothes. I walk into Tj Maxx and Marshalls now and beeline to the active wear section. Getting adventurous with colors lately and I love it!

There are ways to make that work, fashion wise.

Heh.  It is the big wide world of the interwebs.  There are probably folks who are into that.  Maybe I can auction my race duds.

      Short term goal: 17:59 5K

      Mid term goal:  2:54:59 marathon

Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life.  (I started running at age 45).

My weekend clothes have changed. I wear a lot tighter clothing to show off my body. I no longer wear loose clothes and sweats to hide my belly.

I heard this spring's fashion is going to be all about texture. Maybe I read that in Vogue.

Interestingly enough, I still hate tight fitting clothes.  Mine tend to hang off me and I like it.  I used to need XL or XXL shirts.  Now, people always buy me L's but the problem is that if they are cotton shirts, they shrink a bit when washed and they're too short for me.  So, in races, if they're giving a cotton shirt, I still have to get XL and when people get me shirts, I inevitably have to take them back because they have bought me a cotton L that fits great until the first time I wash it.

            Mostly harmless

All of my running shorts are black and I wear whatever tech shirt is on the top of the stack most of the time.  My only real rule is that I don't mix brand names.  So wearing Under Armor shorts and an Adidas shirt is not an option.

In cold weather, I wear soccer warm-ups all the time when I'm not at work.  They are really comfortable for bumming around the house and I prefer to run in these instead of tights.  I'm sure my neighbors are grateful for that.

I'm all about function and I care about saving money.  My running clothes come nearly exclusively from Target (Champion C-9 stuff) or stuff that's on clearance at National Running Center.  I pay little attention to color.  I figure I'm covered in a mix of snot, sweat, spit and a dribble or two of urine by the time I finish a run and, if it's a race, dried out Gatorade so how I look is fairly irrelevant.

                If it's not from when I'm running, it's from having a three-year-old.

I dress brightly because the morons in my small town can't see worth a s*%$ in the dark when I run.

I wear bright orange or yellow jackets (Boston Marathon volunteer ones) and most of my outdoor runs are on sidewalks but I still have close calls. People seem to drive better in areas where there are seldom sidewalks.

The color of my running clothes is totally dependent on the situation in which I wear them.   If it's dark out, I wear light colored, reflective clothing.  If it's daylight and cold, I wear black or darker colors.  It's it's hot outside, I won't wear a shirt at all.

It's all based on function, not fashion.

I'd much rather be wearing my running clothes all day, especially my summer running clothes. Not just because they are comfortable but also so I am always ready for a chance to run. Except for my shoes, I'd keep them stowed away somewhere close.
