Return To Racing

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Return To Racing

Up early for my Friday morning gym workout.  10 mile walk run after I the roofer stops by for an estimate.

Probably will go out for an alfresco lunch after the run.

Happy National Senior Citizens Day (not my favorite holiday).

Morning!  I didn't run yesterday because the massage therapist visit took around 2 hours but the bone in my foot is in place and the pain has subsided a little.  So, Pilates and 6.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

        Penguin Power!

I only got 4.5 done yesterday  re: laziness + tummy problems.  The humidity finally broke so I'm going to head out for something longish soon.

I've got.. 35 more years until I can celebrate senior citizens day... all my grandparents are dead so I can't celebrate with them, though my MIL is pushing 70 so maybe I should do something for her =P  She's a former professional ballerina though, so if you saw her from behind you'd think she's in her 20s.  I don't know how much that holiday applies to her ;-)

          Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

I'm not a senior citizen yet, though I do get a few discounts.  I'm not sure when I'll consider myself a senior citizen.  I think somebody said that "Old is always 20 years older than you are."  My 75 year old husband keeps saying, "I'm getting older, but I'm not old yet."

D - yesterdays' rest was probably a good idea anyhow.  Better to let the ankle rest as much as possible, especially when you're moving bones around.

Jerry - enjoy your long run today.  What was for lunch?

sapf - Have a nice run today.  Are you following a plan for your marathon?

Today is a rest day for me, but I'm hoping to go to the AT with Jim and Ben after lunch for a short hike.  The rain is gone and the temps are down, for a couple of days anyway.

            Brilliant

              Good morning Penguins!

Happy Seniors day to those of us who consider themselves seniors. Smile  I'm still baffled that 40 is considered "masters"!

Jerry, have a nice run and lunch.

Damaris, glad your foot feels good.

Jill, have a good longish run, you young person you.

Ginny, enjoy the rest and hike!

I just ran 5 or so; not really sure of the exact distance because my watch died, oops.  I'll try to piece it together with maps.  Now headed for a core class at the studio.

8 for us.  I'm just going to assume that a senior is someone who can't run 8 miles.

                Jill.

                Penguin Power!

Only managed 5.2 - still having tummy troubles.  Ugh.

Ginny - I'm loosely following HH Intermediate 1 but I beefed up the midweek mileage.  I've been falling off the plan hardcore this week, my stomach has been bothering me all week.  I think maybe it's because I ran out of oatmeal so I've been eating chickpea pancakes or whole wheat cous cous for breakfast instead.  I should just get to the store and get more oatmeal.

Well I wasted the best day in a while yesterday, just didn't have it to run, the high was in the 70s.

Couldn't get it together this morning either. I ended up with 6 on the TM after work today.

I did get a senior discount when I was in California 2 years ago. and I'm a Grand Master. So is 60 a Great Grand Master?
