Friday Penguins are destined for greatness!! (Read 16 times)

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Or at least destined for a great weekend.  I declare it so!!  I've actually got a fairly busy weekend -- the retirement gig with the quartet tonight, I'm taking my second test to be a certified Sweet Adeline director tomorrow, and then we might head up the road a bit to see DH's cousin's kids participate in a dance recital, if we can get there on time.  We have a few extra church duties on Sunday, then the usual weekend chores.  Woo-hoo!!

      Penguin Power!

Wow there are just no penguins around these days :-/

DH and I went to look at a condo yesterday.  He fell in love with it (the unit itself) but I really can't stand the area that it is located in.  I think that the hunt continues.  Just walking for me today and picking up materials for the 4 mile race I'm doing on Sunday.  That should be.. interesting.

        Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Glad you're here, Jill!!  I was beginning to wonder if I'd stunk up the igloo somehow.  I swear I took a shower this morning!

Hope your race is less interesting and more enjoyable than you think it will be.  And I hope you find the perfect place, in the perfect place!!

Jill - interesting because you don't think your body will behave, or because of the weather?  Good luck either way.

HopesMom - sounds like a very good weekend for you.  Have fun.

We're in Wisconsin today.  I got caught in a big thunderstorm during my run out of the campground this afternoon.  I could barely see the entrance to the campground and the road was a running river.  I was very glad I had decided to do a short one this afternoon.  Four days on the road and I've managed 3 runs, so I'm feeling pretty good.  We've done a couple of short hikes as well, but Jim hasn't been wanting to do anything long.  Hopefully when it's cooler, we'll walk more.

Busy day today. I did get 3 in though.

              Return To Racing

Beautiful day so we took a 7 mile run/walk.

                From the Internet.

I'm trying to check in more regularly again!

8 miles this morning, wherein a bus driver and I found an owl (baby?) in the street and moved it to safety. That triggered a whole other storyline which I will elaborate on tomorrow when I'm at a computer. Deadlifts in the afternoon - pulled 220 pounds for 3 reps at a bodyweight of 135, I am thrilled! It didn't even feel all that hard! Big grin
