Week 47 Penguins share a Coke with a polar bear! (11/18-11/24) (Read 4 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

It's National Carbonated Beverage with Caffeine Day.  Um ... ok.  I know Docket has her pre-marathon Mountain Dew, but I don't drink a lot of soda, myself.  A couple of times a month, maybe.  Now coffee, on the other hand ...

Skipped yoga today, although now I'm regretting that decision.  I could use both the muscle loosening and the zen.  I did bike in today -- DH is getting my car serviced, but transferred everything over to his car so that I could still ride my bike.  Come to think of it, I'm not sure he transferred my parking deck hang tag, so it's a good thing I biked!

I think I've done everything I need to do to hire my new tech, but we're suspecting that the background check won't come through in the next couple of days (duh), so her start date will be December 10th. So today will be working on samples and the grant proposal abstract.  I'm only working today and tomorrow, then traveling down to NC to see my folks Wednesday through Sunday.  Woo-hoo!

Morning!  I need caffeine today like it's water.  Woke up at 3am with a sick kitty (he is fine now) and went to bed at midnight, so yay me. I have 7 miles tonight.

HopesMom, glad you have a new tech, pending the background check!

HM - enjoy your short week, even with the extra work.

D - sorry about the sick cat. Was a vet visit required?

RD for me.  We did go to the park and give Ben an extra 2 mile walk, so it wasn't a complete rest day. Hopefully my back will improve with the low impact movement.

Ginny, hoping you enjoyed the rest day.  Nah, it's Hershey and he has constipation and I missed his medication dose by 5 hours and boom.  I'm going to have to give him a bit more dose this week, much to his chagrin.

              Glad Hershey is feeling better!!

Ginny, hope your lower back is cooperating!

Yoga and biking done.  I think if I pack my VFF's, I can do yoga at my folks' house.  Between Dusty and all his stuff, luggage, a cheesecake, pillows, my CPAP, and some Christmas presents, the car gets a little full to stuff in a yoga mat as well.  But my VFF's are more packable, and should serve ok.  Definitely won't be able to take the trike, but riding on the roads around my parents' would be suicidal anyway.

So tonight I'm going to make some rice krispie treats, because my nephews will definitely not care for kahlua caramel macchiato cheesecake.  Then I need to get packed, so we can hit the road tomorrow!

Boo at not being able to take the trike with you.  Enjoy the travels!

I have Pilates and 5 after work.

For a girl who can't ride a bike, I sure do enjoy it!
