Road ID (Read 316 times)

Just B.S.

The irony in this didn't occur to me until just now.....

I only ordered 2 items on line for Christmas this year.

A new doggie collar for our pooch Buster, from LLBean, with his name and phone number in  case he ever gets

lost. Those medalion ID's can come off and the LLBean collars have the info embroidered on them.

I also ordered a Road ID for hubby in case he ever gets lost.

The dog collar arrived in time for Christmas. The Road ID did not.

Hopefully hubby can refrain from getting lost, falling and banging his head or having some kind of fit

while out running until his "collar" arrives" Big grin  He's been running for 10 years but you never know!

Great gift!  My Road ID is pretty much the only "jewelry" I wear, along with a watch and wedding band.  I have one of those thin rubber ones.  Bottom line says, "Did I win?"

I've thought about getting a Road ID, just realized I run with no ID whatsoever, guess it's time.

I just got mine yesterday!! I got the slim in purple.

I had an alternative to RoadID before and it lasted a mere 6 mos before it was unreadable. I dunno if the lettering was just awful or the metal was soft, but it basically rubbed/scratched itself to blank. It was on my watchband, which I sortof liked because I didn't have to think about wearing it. But my wrists are so small that the ID had to be in a weird place on my band and it made the watch hard to put on(the strap and ID had to go thru the buckle).

So far I like the RoadID, I hope it holds up. But at least if it doesn't, they guarantee it. Better than I could say about my $7.99 previous one.

Go Sport ID?  I have one of those too.  Bought it with a coupon.  The info is indeed tough to read after a while.  The Road ID's black text is much better, plus the medal band on the Road ID actually stays in place.

Actually, it was CrosstrainID. When I got it new, it was hard to read then even but I decided to give it a chance anyways. The lettering was very light and small, the metal was shiney(which made the letters even harder to read). The Road ID, I was impressed with right out of the box. Easy to read text, fit like a glove.

I do go back & forth over if I should wear it metal plate facing the top of my wrist or on the underside, where you would feel for a pulse if you are an EMT(so they'd be more likey to read it and not think it was just a "cause bracelet")

Am I over thinking this? Perhaps.

You might be overthinking it a bit.  But it is a good question.

Generally, my experience has been that as EMS providers are trained to look for things like medic-alert tags anything that doesn't look like a watch or jewelry type bracelet will elicit some additional investigation.

Personally, it doesn't matter if I'm working on the street or in the ER I'll investigate more closely.  It doesn't matter where the metal plate is located.

My best advice would be to put the name plate where ever it's comfortable for you.

"C" is for cookie.  That's good enough for me.

                      Not quite right

Yea I have also. I got one of their flyers sitting on my desk at work as a reminder. I guess time to stop being lazy. If I would have thought about should have ordered them for  the family for stocking stuffers

I used to have one.  I lost it.  I probably should get another.  I haven't.

I won a gift card for one at a race, so mine cost me only $0.99. Best $0.99 I've probably ever spent! I'm so happy they come in sizes too. I have very small wrists and watches and bracelets are always too big for me. The Slim in size small is a perfect fit for me.

GoSportID is much better in my opinion. The Road ID's fabric band starts to stink and fray after use. The GoSport has a rubber band so you just wipe it down with soap and water. Plus the bands are interchangeable and can match your outfit. I think the price was better too.
