Feels like it has been a long time since I have paid a visit here probably because it has been. Finally on the other side of the wedding and sort of back to running everyday. AWood is doing a good job of keeping me going. Time to get running again that half is going to be on me before I know it and I want to be ready for it. Half hour run tonight after work and dinner. Yesterdays run felt awesome and I realized how much I had missed.

Thank you, Coralie! It's silly to be happy over such a poor showing but I'm hoping it's like making crepes and the first few don't count
LOL, love the analogy! Glad you enjoyed your first 5k and didn't take your time too serious. You'll have plenty of other opportunities.
edit: Ohhh, and Hi Pewpew! Congratulations on the new marriage, and good luck with the run tonight!

P3 - glad you're getting back into running now that the excitement of the wedding is over.
Coralie - Good job on the 4 today. I rarely do short runs, because it often takes me a couple of miles before I really warm up. I'll start out sluggish, then somewhere along the way it gets to be easy again as I relax into the pace. My pace picks up without my noticing. If I stop early, I don't get the benefit of the warmup.
Jimmy - I'm sure you'll enjoy your vacation. We had a spell like that where moving and job changes kept us from getting any time off for a few years. It's hard to not have a real break.
Jerry - I'll look for your race report.
Damaris - kind of mixed news on the asthma, but it sounds like you're happy with it. The results have certainly shown in your races, as you've not had to use the inhaler for a while.
Bin - I hope you got your six in. How's the leg?
Zelanie - hope the PT went well this morning. Is this presentation the result of your field trips last month?
Gustav - you did well to get in 20, given how busy you've been with your job.
Awood - good job doing the double, and getting all the chores done too.
Margo - with two races in two weeks, plus other training, no wonder you were tired. Still, it's fun to run with other people.
Scotty - glad you found a gym that was open and that you got a good run in before the rain. Can you send some our way? We keep missing the storms, and our lawn is already starting to turn brown.
HopesMom - that cold has really lasted a while. Hope you feel better soon.
Cherie - that was a long run, given the heat. Good thing you were able to fix the A/C. I wouldn't have a clue.
Baconista - given the crowds, you did well. It's hard to run fast when you can't run continuously. Try again in a month or two, and you'll be happy again.
AFM: Today was cool (79) and cloudy but very humid. I headed up to the state forest and ran one of the forest roads out and back for 12 miles. The mountain laurel is just starting to bloom, and since it was a weekday there were few cars, so it was a good choice. I gained 1261' elevation, mostly on the return leg, so slowed down a lot and had to walk a few times, but I felt pretty good at the end. I still lack endurance, especially on the hills, but at least I know what I need to work on.

Wow, some chatty penguins today!
I won't be posting any of my mileage this week, since it's allstar week for the 2013 in 2013 competition. But there's a strong possibility that I may have run a double today.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

I'm not posting mine either...so there.
But can you run a double every day? Since you're on my team, I dare you!

Return To Racing
Congrats Bacon. Gotta start somewhere.
Just a quick check in during a late lunch break because the results were posted from yesterday's 5k and I wanted to share because I had such a great time just trying it. The good news is that I was faster than my training time (which means I think I can push a little harder while training) but my overall time might get me kicked out of the igloo. It was 48:09. Hugely embarrassing but easy to do better next time!

OK, presentation is done! Ginny, you're right, it was related to the visits. We had an evening where we had to show what we did with the money we got. I think it went well. The superintendent, assistant superintendent, most of the school board, and the local paper were there. Yikes!
Baconista- You could run a 5K in double that time and still be welcome in the igloo! And, like others have said, now you have a PR to beat! I don't think you need to go faster on your training runs just because you have a faster race time. Most of your runs should still be a pace that you can run and hold a conversation. Over time, that pace will get faster, even without any speedwork.
P3- That's a great photo!
Glad that both penguin all stars are on the same team!
Nice pic!!
