Jury Duty Tuesday Penguins (Read 9 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

5 of 12 on the TM this morning hope to get the rest if I get out of jury duty early enough.

Morning!  I have Pilates and 7 miles tonight.

PAD, good luck!  I have mine in two weeks or so.  It was next week but I had to postpone due to a work trip.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

          You probably never get picked.

I postponed mine from last month.

I got called 3 times in the last year but each time they cancelled at the last minute so my name is back in the pool.

I've never done jury duty. I last got called about 14 years ago but they didn't end up seating any juries that day. We went home about noon. Same with the previous attempt about 5 years before. Every time before that I had moved and no longer lived in the area where I was supposed to serve.

I have 5 or so easy to do later, either before or after my eye appointment.

              Penguin Power!

Been called for jury duty a few times but always randomly wound up with a high number and never had to go in. I hope I never have to serve. When I was a teacher I got out of it because I called and just said "I'm a teacher, my students are sitting for state exams in three weeks"

                Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

I get a notice about every 2-3 years but never been picked. It was civil court and sometime between the being sent up and getting off the elevator they settled the case and we were released.

Got home and finished my long run.

Ha.  I got picked for a trial last time, even though I had my own trial and had to cancel my own shit for them.  Sigh.

I wish I was lucky. In here, you still have to show up, whether Monday, Tuesday, etc.  All numbers are always required to come in.

And apparently, federal prosecutor with a trial next week meant nothing to them last time.

Still, it was a lot of fun being in a jury.
