Man how did I get talked into that (Read 156 times)

Is there a test for a crazy gene, I think I need to be tested.

Tuesday my friend texts me hey you want to do a hill workout tomorrow, my reply was I swim on Wednesdays but I could try and swim in the mornings if needs be (I don't like swimming in the morning because it leaves me starving all day dreaming dreams of golden corral and chewing parts of my desk off).  He was like nah that's ok I do basketball on Wednesdays anyways what do you do on Thursdays.  I do bricks on Thursdays.  So I agree to do a hill workout with him the moment I get home from my bike ride.  So now its a hill brick.

We ran up the backside of STG marathon course (yep instead of running down the 3000 feet of elevation we ran up it) and granted it was only 5 miles, 2.5 each way I think I about died.  Also we did the path I have never run the path which is 10 times worst than the road and is like a roller coaster of brutality.  I would like to take my hat off to Redsparkle who ran that roller coaster during a 50 miler in December that is hard core.  Think running straight up and I mean straight up as your almost doubled over then running straight down.

I have decided this will either make me a better runner that or kill me the jury is still out as I have now agreed to do this every Thursday, so hill bricks every week now and we want to work our way further up the course eventually doing the 7 miles up to Snow Canyon then the 7 miles back down.

I think I have lost my mind.

Don't worry, you don't need to be tested. We know you're crazy. Wink

      Have fun! :-)

Yep, certifiable.  Insurance won't need to pay for that test. Clown

        Are we there, yet?

          Weak-willed and lack of focus?

Try this one on for size...

            Mileage:

3.3 miles to summit of Pyramid Peak

            Elevation:

            Trailhead:  5,908'

            Summit:  9,983'

              But for the record...

"Flat tracking" is one thing, but anyone that's gonna do some serious elevation gains in short distances has my admiration and respect (FWIW). When I did the 2011 Tough Mudder at Squaw Valley, I saw a lot of folks bail because they didn't train for elevation differences.

So in all seriousness...I don't think you're crazy. Big grin

                What's "bricking"?

                Luke79

A brick is a triathlete term for when you ride the bike and follow it immediately with a run, thus simulating race conditions.  They're crazy fun!

Gotcha...I had the "Goruck" impression where you run challenges with backpacks full of bricks....LOL!
