Philliefan, the same thing happened to me during a race today!  Weird that yours wasn't caused by over-exertion.  I was running along fine (but very exerted of course at HM pace) until mile 12 when suddenly I had tunnel vision.  I slowed down to a jog for about 1/4 mile and it went away.

I ran a HM today and squeaked by with another PR. Which I didn't expect at all because my training has been so lousy lately. It was the Ventura Hammer HM.  Very nice, small (208 runners), inexpensive ($50) race with free breakfast at the end!
