Penguin Power!

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Penguin Power!

Morning Pens!  Today I'll most likely be doing intervals on the treadmill.  If my hammy is still bothering me I might turn it into an easy run outside in the beautiful warm weather.  To be determined.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Do you just have a very short warmup/cooldown or very short recoveries?  I'm interested in this :-)

            Barking Mad To Run

Crazy darn San Antonio area weather around here for the next couple of days - rain, thunderstorms, wind, lightning....and winds later tonite are supposed to gust from possibly 30 - 60 mph, jeez!  Well, it was pretty calm this morning so I headed out to the university gym and got 3.1 miles done around the campus just in case it does get 'crazy weather' later and won't be safe to be outside.  The wind was still blowing - about 15 - 20 mph - and a light rain was hitting me smack in the face at times, but I got it done, and the run was......GREAT!   Quite invigorating, lol.  I even met a very sweet dog along the way named Izzie, who was taking her human for a morning walk.

                It was today.  .75 for each 1200 so that's 3.75 leaving 1.25 for warmup/cooldown/rest. ~.5/.4/.1

                Singer who runs a smidge

Morning, Penguins!!  Since my instruments are down, I took yesterday off on a whim, which was all kinds of wonderful.  Got up at the usual time (which was the only doofy part) and did my PT routine with DH, then went with him to his doctor's appointment.  Then we went out to breakfast, woo-hoo!!  Ran some errands, read a library book, went for a walk, and generally had a really nice day.  Of course today I'm back at work, so it's a little less nice.  Hoping to get my air handler fixed in the next couple of days!!  Planning on a lunchtime walk, since spring is in the air ...

Jill -- I'd totally opt for outside!!

PAD -- woo-hoo for your intervals done!!

Docket -- have a good 7 and Pilates!!

Scotty -- Sounds like a crazy weather run, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
