Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

    Barking Mad To Run

Dang, it's hot!  Still being a morning runner until Fall.  Another 100+ degree day predicted for us here today.  Up at 5:15 a.m. and off to the university to do a run/walk around the campus.  Felt pretty good, ended up with 3.1 miles.  Flippin' 70+ dewpoint and temp already in the upper 70s while I was out there - it is 82 degrees right now, at 9 a.m. -  so was soaking sweat by the time I was done.

      Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Also celebrating the wondrous invention known as air conditioning!!  DH and I gave up trying to sleep with the windows open, since the "feels like" temps were still about 78, even at stupid o'clock in the morning.  Fortunately we have a window unit in our bedroom, or we'd still be cooking at night.  Chorus tonight, woo-hoo!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

        Penguin Power!

Hot sweaty and slow three miles done this morning. Marathon training has officially begun. Trying for hansons beginner and if I can't handle it I'll drop to a higdon plan. Hopefully during the mileage ramp up (which I really need) I'll get back in shape enough that the speed work doesn't kill me.

          Upcoming Races: Run as One 4M (4/24) * Japan Run 4M (5/8) * Brooklyn Half (5/21)

Same here scotty but I had a little breeze this morning that helped.

I saw somewhere that today was World Chocolate Day.  Are you kidding me??  I've lost half the day already!  So much time to make up for, so much chocolate to eat!!

Sweating my way through the line at Magic Mountain, so probably no running today. But I should hit my step goal!

Jill, good luck on marathon training! Lots of people here were super successful with that plan.

Afternoon!  Ran 10 miles this morning on the TM and now got back from court.  One more day for the weekend to be here.  I cannot wait.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.
