Tuesday Penguins (Read 8 times)

Docket_Rocket

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Of course my copy paste of the first post didn't work well sigh. I have Pilates and 7 tonight.

      Barking Mad To Run

Tuesday is hill day for me.  5.1 Miles of hills at Fort Sam Houston early this morning. Glad I went in the morning, it's now around 91 degrees here in San Antonio.

It was in the low 70's here, thanks to a cold front that passed by. I'm taking advantage of the cooler weather while I can, since we'll be back in the 90s next week.  After waiting all morning and half the afternoon for a washing machine repairman, Jim and I took Ben out to the county park. They walked while I ran through the park and in the neighborhood beyond. (It's a very small park.)  I can usually manage 6 miles, with a few hills but mostly pretty easy running, so it is a good place to fartlek or do tempo runs. Today I did 10 strides, which made the easy run a bit faster than my usual. It was a beautiful breezy day, so it felt really nice to be out.

PS - we're buying a new washer. He said it would be about $800 to fix it, which is more than we paid for it. When I said, "It's only 6 years old," he laughed, saying they usually only last 5 or so these days, unless you buy a really expensive one. Built in obsolescence strikes again. I'm just waiting for our 7 year water heater to burst.  It's been 6 3/4 years.
