I think I'm going to cry/check out the inside of my leg! (Read 779 times)

    What's wrong with knitting?

Xactly! Knitting is good!LOL I just finished the 7th scarf for some of my son's friends.

They request them every year.  At the very least if knitting makes me cool with 20 and 21

yr olds I"m OK with that!Big grin

Lauren, really sorry about the injury. I was off running for 6 weeks early in the year becuase

of surgery. It wasn't running related surgery but it still sucked.

    Enjoy the swimming.

So is that a shot of the inside of your left leg?   And I assume fib is the skinny bone blocking total view of the tib?

And the fracture is the left side of that pic?

      Curious.

I *think* it's the back of the tibia that's visible - I scrolled through the whole series a few times to figure it out, I could see calf muscles, brief glimpse of the fib, then this image, then more tibia without the line, then top of foot/knee. Fracture is the black line smack in the middle of the white bone.

Thanks for all the sympathy guys. I'm so emotional. I've been crying off and on all day. Who would have thought that the girl who, less than a year ago, didn't run unless being chased would be so wrecked by this.

Scotty and jjs - I have, in fact, already bought an aquajogging belt (and an appropriate swimsuit/cap/goggles) and it should be here tomorrow because meltdown-mode-Lauren ordered it with next day shipping, haha. I'm okay with looking utterly ridiculous if it helps me maintain my fitness, and I'm quite glad that the students at my university are mostly home for winter break for the next month - fewer people to stare at me Smile jjs, I'll look into that book too, thanks for the rec.

Ha, hopefully I'll be doing a lot of that! :P

I did know how to knit at one point, maybe I'll dig out the ol' knitting needles and try it again with all the free time I'll have now.

              Drink up moho's!!

Now when I had the MRI of my foot it looked entirely different.  The bones were dark grey and the SFX showed up as a white spot.

Nothing is wrong with knitting, it was a tounge in cheek joke(because people always reply you should take up knitting in your spare time).

I happen to have went through a knitting phase myself a few years back. I made good use of my time and knit my cloth diapered son all his pants from age 8mos until he was PT at age 2. And I wasn't half bad.

                        joke peeps, just a funny.

Naked, we were just teasing back.

Plus it gave me a chance to talk to Knit1Run2 about knitting!

Long rides spent driving back and forth to races can produce many scarves throughout the year!!

I think it was just too much/too fast too soon, and it didn't hurt like a traditional stress fracture because of the location (that image is the back of the tibia) so I kept running on it Sad No pain while running, no pain while bearing weight, no pain while jumping up and down, so I assumed I was safe.

I might take up aquajogging, at least then I'll feel like I'm running Sad

I'm curious.  If you had no pain, what caused you to get an MRI?

                            Short term goal: 17:59 5K

                            Mid term goal:  2:54:59 marathon

Long term goal: To say I've been a runner half my life.  (I started running at age 45).

I had the same question as LTH.

If you have a sfx, you sure have my sympathy as I've suffered through two. But from that perspective, I can also tell you that the time will pass and you'll be back out there before you know it. Mine were almost 8 and more than 5 years ago. But at the time, it felt like I'd never get to run again.
